Trauma patients who are in a medicine induced coma are made "light" (medication decreased to the point where the patient is aware, at that time, of their surroundings) during award presentations in theatre.
I personally dont remember my two Purple Hearts being awarded but there are pics of the ceremony. I saluted the company and SOTF CDRs as they pinned me and shook the hands of the CSM and SGM and a few other NCOs who were there.
