Yesterday I got to do something pretty cool. I got an email from our Veteran Affairs Liaison for the City of Austin. He asked if we could help fix up the house of a veteran who lived in a small house in East Austin. Turns out it is Richard Overton's house. Mr. Overton is reported to be the oldest living WWII veteran in the US at 107 years old. Home Depot has a great program where they donate supplies and volunteers from their stores to do stuff like this. I represented AFD, and there were some ROTC kids from University of Texas there as well. It was pretty neat and truly a good news story.

Enjoy some good news for a change,

Great story, seemed like a very deserving guy.

A splash of whiskey a day, seems like it paid off for him.

What a perfect way to spend some time, and it is ''good news". A big salute to Mr. Overton, and those who pitched in to help out a veteran.
