I have Szechuan peppercorns I received from Thailand to add to Kung Pao chicken. Does anyone know how to separate the seeds from the husks? They are a dental nightmare.

A source for de-seeded peppers would be fine, also.

Gracias! Well, uh, maybe...謝謝你

I wouldn't get fresh from them, but for dried ingredients and spices, I've had good luck just using amazon. If you pay $79 for the prime membership, there's no shipping on any of it and I know that I've saved much more than that.

There's ground ones on the second page

For the ones you have, have you tried grinding a couple and dropping them in water to see if the seeds will sink?

I did order through Amazon. The site said that they were de-seeded. I had thought of soaking them and then re-drying the husks, but I wonder how, or if, it would effect the taste or effervescent sensation it produces. No reason not to try, though, unless someone has a better suggestion.

I did not realize the had to be hulled. I am glad they are legal again. They were illegal to import for a while.

I get all my spices here, very reasonably priced. It doesn't say if they are hulled but they have a toll free number, and I find them to be very helpful.

They always send a little jar of a free sample with your order, nice touch.

Ha, me too! Have your tried their cinnamon blend? I really like it.

PSM, request a catalog...it is not your typical kind of catalog and provides some great info on all of their spices. It's one of my favorite things to get in the mail.

When I order online I always get a small freebie jar of something with my order and every month they have a special free spice with the purchase of a certain dollar amount (smallish, like 10.00 or so)

I downloaded the .pdf catalog, but it says that it has the seeds:

Szechuan Peppercorns
More spicy, fragrant and fresher than ever. These are
not true peppercorns, but are actually an aromatic
reddish berry with a black inner seed and peppery bite.
A must for Asian cooking. Perfect added to chicken
soup.
