MORRISON, COLORADO (Sept. 26, 2013) – The Green Beret Foundation will host a dinner event on Oct. 11 in Morrison, Colo., to introduce the local community to former and present elite U.S. Special Forces while also explaining the unconventional resources that the organization provides to soldiers and their families.

Following the tragic death of Colorado native Green Beret Staff Sgt. Liam Nevins in Afghanistan on Saturday, the foundation’s leadership will also highlight the sacrifices made by Green Berets and their families.

“Special Forces were the first soldiers into Afghanistan and we’ll be the last ones to leave. As a result, men like Staff Sgt. Nevins continue to pay the ultimate sacrifice,” said Joe Teti, costar of the Discovery Channel show “Dual Survival” and a former Green Beret who will speak at the event. “The Green Beret Foundation is here to support these ‘quiet professionals’ and their families.”

The Green Beret Foundation provides unique and critical services, like in vitro fertilization for severely wounded Green Berets so they can continue to live productive family lives and cutting edge hyberbaric oxygen therapy for Green Berets suffering from traumatic brain injuries (TBI). Proceeds from the Oct. 11 event will be donated to the foundation.

“We are eager to let people in Colorado know that we’re here to support,” said Jen Paquette, the Green Beret Foundation Executive Director. “We are also looking for people who want to help us achieve our mission of supporting these courageous Americans.”

At the event, the public can meet and talk with current and former Green Berets, including members of the Colorado National Guard Special Forces Detachment in Denver and the 10th Special Forces Group in Colorado Springs. Master Sgt. (Ret.) Scott Neil, the Green Beret Foundation’s Director of Strategic Development and one of the first Green Berets to deploy into Afghanistan following the tragic events of 9/11, will also be meeting people during the evening event. Neil lived in the Denver area as a youth and graduated from a local high school.

The event will be emceed by Bruce Parkman, a retired Green Beret sergeant major and now CEO of The Macalan Group, which is headquartered in Colorado Springs.

“With Fort Carson just down the road, I’m excited to meet members of the community who are looking for innovative ways to support Green Berets and their families,” said Parkman, who is on the foundation’s board and who provides mentorship and employment opportunities for transitioning Special Forces in the technology
and services industry. “I hope folks in the area will come learn more about the Green Berets and start some conversations with us about what we can do together to support the Special Forces community.”

People can sign up at www.militaryevents.us , using the following event code: FortDinner13 . Tickets are $195. VIP tickets are $250, which includes admission to the VIP cocktail and hors d'oeuvres event. For any questions related to purchasing tickets, contact Angie Fennen at angie@greenberetfoundation.org.

The Fort is an award winning restaurant located in Southwest Denver. Local musicians will be performing throughout the evening.
