I realize, I was was but a small child when we were at war there and others here had BTDT, however, I had a hard time reading the above article. They made him out to be a freedom fighter of the highest order, a saint and reads like communist propaganda.

It appears that they have glossed over his methods and tactics.

If I'm reading this wrong, please bring me up to speed.
Thank you.

It is all about perspective and who the audience is. To them "communist VN" he is a hero.

I agree completely, the exception here is that it was written by AFP News staff

Part of their mission statement reads:

Impartiality

Objectivity is a difficult goal to achieve. The mere unavoidable organisation of facts can influence a reader’s judgement. However, this does not prevent us from pursuing our policy of rigorous neutrality. According to its remit, AFP is independent of the French government and all other economic or political interests. No user of AFP content should detect an opinion contained within the facts presented and AFP journalists resolve to present an account of events free of any form of distortion.

That article read a little one sided to me. Then again, it was written by the French. Maybe something was lost in the translation.

AP's a major cell of the slimeball media network. They worship guys like Giap, Mao, Castro, Chavez and any other commie scumbag you can name, because they hate how America was built and what it stands for.

They couldn't care less about any of our guys giving their lives to oppose communism.

Thanks for the response. I can now assume I was tracking correctly

Once again the liberal media shows it's ugly underbelly.

Once again the liberal media shows it's ugly underbelly.

The only "journalists" I consider halfway credible nowadays are the ones who work with James O'Keefe.

[Giap] was the architect of Vietnam's stunning battlefield victories against France and the United States.

What battlefield victory did he have against the US?

Probably referencing the Ho Chi Minh Campaign in general.

Fonda's room? I didn't know she would get her own room. I thought they would be bunk mates. She gets the top of course.

The only battle Giap ever won was at DBF against the French. He never won a battle against us. He tried several times and ended up retreating back into Cambodia & Vietnam with what was left of his army. From there, he got it in the rear, courtesy of SOG.

DBPh. Against the Phrench. ;)

ETA: I mean no disrespect for the warriors who fought and died at Dien Bien Phu.
