WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. intelligence officials said Wednesday that the government shutdown is seriously damaging the intelligence community's ability to guard against threats. They said they're keeping counterterrorism staff at work as well as those providing intelligence to troops in Afghanistan, but that the danger would increase daily with fewer spies to track targets.

Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper told Congress Wednesday that roughly 70 percent of the civilian workforce — including staff from the CIA, National Security Agency and Defense Intelligence Agency — have been furloughed.

I guess they can only spy on 25% of Americans right now......

In all seriousness my understanding is essential personnel are still working. They have park police trying to keep the WWII vets out of the memorial.

Not just the WW II memorial, but ALL memorials.

Here's a picture taken last night that seems to sum up Barry's America.

It must really suck if a temporary loss of your job will influence a person to defect to the other side and be susceptible to foreign intelligence recruiters...

Does everything that comes out of Mr. Clapper's mouth just seem improbable? Remember when he said the Muslim Brotherhood was only a community outreach group?

He's probably responsible for saying Al Qaeda is finished! 😄

Hey Clapper. Your massive spying program failed to find two more radicals, one in the US and one in Saudi. They evidently were radicalized two years ago. What's wrong? Need more time? Perhaps you need to turn the Muslim filter off, ass!!!

A DHS whistleblower claims he was tracking the group to which the San Bernardino Muslim terrorists belonged. He is also claiming DHS deleted his files and have retaliated against him.

Department of Homeland Security analyst Philip Haney—who appeared on the Megyn Kelly Show—will be interviewed about his claim that he tracked members of many Islamist groups, including two which Sayed Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, were associated with. However, Haney says that DHS deleted the records and retaliated against him.

DHS Whistleblower: Investigation That Would Have Flagged CA Attackers Shut Down Due To Profiling Fears

On Thursday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Kelly File,” former DHS employee Philip Haney said work he was doing that would have “put the red light on” the San Bernardino attackers was shut down due to fears of profiling.

Haney said that as a result of work he was doing, “would have put the red light on them. Therefore, two things very plausibly would have happened. Either Syed would have been put on the No-Fly List, because of association with that mosque, and/or the K-1 visa that his wife was given may have been denied because of his affiliation with a known organization.”

Haney added that his investigation was shut down because “we were not allowed to develop a case, based on…any Islamic group.”

The Department of "homeland" security. One huge mistake, thanks President Bush.

Department of Homeland Security staffed by former mall security guards and retired AF. People that have never ever seen the threat up close.

Same sort of staff that makes up the CIA, NSA, FBI etc, they have never actually seen the threat.

Now all the agencies have females as directors, (I hear Dir. Clapper, also identifies as female.)

Let's just keep throwing trillions at these agencies to make us more PC and islamic sensitive.

barack hussein obama and you think muslims have not been laughing their asses off for the last seven years.

Report claims that Obama instructed the National Security Council to 'downplay' the likelihood that the San Bernardino attack was terrorism.

Report: Obama Told NSC And FBI To ‘Downplay’ Terrorist Angle Of San Bernardino

A source told Jack Murphy of SOFREP that the FBI instantly believed the shooting, which left 14 dead, to be a clear act of terrorism. The White House, however, didn’t feel the same way and quickly moved in to squash the terror classification.
