The real divide in American politics isn’t between Republican and Democrat--it’s between the people and the entrenched politicians in Washington, D.C.

Yep, and that's the way it is Sunday, September 29, 1984 (Ooops I mean 2013). Little Freudian slip there.;)

The XO has been telling me for years, "doesn't matter who wins, they're all the same." Damn, I gotta listen to her more often!

Oh, and on the Clinton charitable fund raising/giving? An insider asked me recently, "Do you know how much money has actually been distributed from Clinton's fund?" No, I said. Answer: Nothing! Hmmmm.

I have said it before and I'll say again, 3 things are needed to effect a real change. (1) Term limits (2) Balanced budget amendment and (3) reform of the tax code to abolish income tax and replace it with a VAT.

I'm curious why they don't ever do this, since they have never suffered any consequences to this point for failure to perform a core element of their job desccription, to wit: appropriating monies to run the country. Besides criminal liability attached, they should be forced to resign and states can appoint whomever. Those who refuse to go peacefully can report to Room # MR2.

The problem with the Balance Budget Amendment is it requires the government to either cut spending or raise revenue (taxes). Have you ever seen politicians make a meaningful cut?

Good point.

I haven't seen it handled properly since Ronnie left.

The status quo in DC is aided and abetted by the bureaucratic morass that congress created. They feed on self preservation, by misinformation and congress eats it up in an effort to swell their ranks. Even if the congress could turned around, the bureaucrats would stop it..

I think that term limits should also be put on all non-elected government jobs, with the exception of the military & medical professionals.
