Is something amiss in the "zero defects" world of our nuclear stockpiles?

No. 2 US Nuke Commander Suspended Amid Probe
AP, 28 Sep 2013

The No. 2 officer at the military command in charge of all U.S. nuclear war-fighting forces has been suspended and is under investigation by the Naval Criminal Investigation Command, officials said Saturday.

The highly unusual action against a high-ranking officer at U.S. Strategic Command was made more than three weeks ago but not publicly announced.

Air Force Gen. Robert Kehler, the commander of Strategic Command, suspended the deputy commander, Navy Vice Adm. Tim Giardina, from his duties on Sept. 3, according to the command's top spokeswoman, Navy Capt. Pamela Kunze. He is still assigned to the command but is prohibited from performing duties related to nuclear weapons and other issues requiring a security clearance, she said.

Even before opening the link, my first thoughts were, it's either a gambling, drinking, or relationship issue, or combination of any of the above.

And low and behold I found this after opening the article .....

Two senior U.S. officials familiar with the investigation said it is related to gambling issues. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the probe in incomplete.

That's nothing new when it comes to ANYONE working around or with nukes in any capacity. From the lowliest of privates on up to the highest ranking generals.

*TIN FOIL HAT TIME* ...... Now, that's what they're saying is the reason why he's been suspended. I wonder what the REAL reason is. Wonder what the NSA has/found on him?

Time for more mandatory ass chewings on gambling for those that aren't the problem.
