"I ONCE lived in a harem in Afghanistan.

I did not enter the kingdom as a diplomat, soldier, teacher, journalist or foreign aid worker. I came as a young Jewish bride of the son of one of the country's wealthiest men. I was held in a type of captivity — but it's not as if I had been kidnapped.

I walked into it of my own free will.........."

She is one lucky lady. A very interesting read - not that any feminists will care.

That story would make a good movie. It also makes one wonder how much progress the Afghans have made in the past 50 years.

Good read. Thanks for sharing. As they changed the name of the husband and family in the book, I am betting he is still living and still in a position of prominence there.

Wish that this would be an eye opener, a call to action about women in the Muslim world; but I'm a realist - this will go unheeded.
