Anyone own one?

When I first read the thread title I thought to myself "Oh no, PS has discovered an old 70's skin flick", but then I read further :D

I do not have any experience with it, but I pulled this from their website and thought it was pretty cool:

I'm not a computer guy per se, but if I understand it correctly, this thing is an external hard drive, processor, graphics card, and power supply?

The BeagleBone is the latest of Texas Instrument's BeagleBoard (http://beagleboard.org/) ARM based embedded development boards. They are essentially small, low power computers which generally run Linux based operating systems. To put it into perspective, your average Android phone is essentially the same thing, albeit a bit more powerful. The general purpose IO(GPIO) pins on the board can be used to read/write/drive the various devices(temperature sensors, pumps etc.) used in automating the brewing process. I currently use a Netduino (http://netduino.com/) to drive several solid state relays which in turn control my lawn sprinklers, along with an application for monitoring the weather(precipitation).

While I have not done any work on any of the BeagleBoards, I have worked with the RaspberryPI (http://www.raspberrypi.org/) and the OXNAS based boards in Pogoplug (https://pogoplug.com/devices) devices(had one setup as my security DVR at one point), which are comparable.

Beaglebone doesn't seem to offer much more 'bang for your buck,' than a raspberry pi. Look into the Odroid U2...Quad core 1.7ghz, 2GB of RAM...I'm looking at clustering 8 or 10 of them together...
