Most SF guys (and many American military men and women) have spent significant time in other countries, and hopefully not just Iraq & Afghanistan. Perhaps you gained an appreciation for true international sports? After all, how can the NFL declare a "world champion" when other countries aren't invited.
If you have DIRECTV, you may wish to view or DVR the following channels:
(some are in my package and some are premium)
489-1 Rugby (watching All Blacks v Wallabies right now)
490 & 490-1 Rugby
491 to 495 English Premier League Soccer (premium)
618 Aussie Rules Football & NRL Ruby
619 Soccer
621 & 621-1 Aussie Rules and Soccer (premium)
This is not a complete list but should be enough to get the international sport fan started if you aren't already aware of what's available. Many of the feeds are live so New Zealand or South Africa matches are at crazy times for us. I DVR several hours each weekend and watch at my leisure.
