Seems the two are getting frustrated. Suspect though it won't help their cause.

Most transparant administration ever. If the world can't see this for what it is they are blind.

Very scary. I am wondering how soon this will happen in the US and if we will hear about it when it does? This is the action when the media reports something they don't want the citizenry to hear about? The slope just got slippier.

Safeguards are in place to ensure that the power provided under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000 is "used appropriately and proportionately," it added.

'No protection for journalists'

But The Guardian's editor, Alan Rusbridger, gave a different assessment of the legislation in an editorial published by the newspaper late Monday.

"Under this measure -- uniquely crafted for ports and airport transit areas -- there are none of the checks and balances that apply once someone is in Britain proper," he wrote. "There is no need to arrest or charge anyone and there is no protection for journalists or their material. A transit lounge in Heathrow is a dangerous place to be."

"The demand was the same: hand the Snowden material back or destroy it," he said. Otherwise, the government would pursue legal action to force its surrender, he says he was told.

Rusbridger went on to detail various meetings he says have taken place in the past few weeks with UK government officials and "shadowy Whitehall figures" in connection with Greenwald's reporting.

Despite his protestations, Rusbridger said, the authorities were unmoved -- so two security experts from GCHQ, the British equivalent of the NSA, then oversaw "the destruction of hard drives in the Guardian's basement just to make sure there was nothing in the mangled bits of metal which could possibly be of any interest to passing Chinese agents."

Given the short-list of "sources of truth" most Americans rely on, I was surprised to find that at CNN's Europe section.

There have been a few journalist investigated and harassed in the US because of their stories. Let alone how many we're spied on. The one that took down Patraus is dead after he said he was going into hiding. It's happening here already.

You're right. I had forgotten about the Petraeus guy.

A definitely suspicious and out of character event too. I could point out the possibility of a floor mat or related throttle sticking issue. They don't teach it in drivers ed but if it happens try wedging your foot under pedal and pull it up.

Don't believe anything they say at this point without facts that back it up....

First, it was McChrystal, not Patreus.

Second, the guy was a drug user, whose family was trying to get him into rehab. Paranoia is a side effect of most drug use.

This guy had lots of problems, so it's probably safe to safe he killed himself because he was reckless.

From a recent article about the autopsy:

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/08/20/journalist-michael-hastings-had-drugs-in-system-when-died-coroners-report-says/

Hastings died when his Mercedes, traveling at a high rate of speed, crossed into the median on Highland Avenue in Hollywood and struck a tree on June 18. The car burst into flames and Hastings' body was charred to the point that it took several days to positively identify him.
The report states that Hastings had been "sober" for 14 years, but his family believed he had started using drugs again in the month before his death.
According to investigators, the crash occurred a day after Hastings returned from New York, where his wife was living at the time, and hours before a brother was due to join another family member in urging Hastings to go to detox. Family members said Hastings had been using the hallucinogenic DMT recently, though the drug was not detected in a blood test after the crash.
The report also noted that Hastings had hit a pole while driving several years ago and was possibly misusing Ritalin at the time. He was later institutionalized for rehabilitative care.
A family member told investigators Hastings didn't have a history of suicide attempts but believed he was invincible and could jump off a balcony and be fine.

What Anglesix pointed out was reported today - would I stick my neck out believing it? Nope.

You earn or lose trust based on your actions matching your mouth, at least with me.

General Warrants were never Constitutional nor should they ever be, for whatever reason. Lying to folks who don't understand Big data and associated technologies doesn't instill trust nor a reflection of good character.
