Personal emails don't necessarily constitute an affair. I have shared some very personal things with people via email, and none of us were having affairs. There's a big difference between very personal and inappropriate.

No, but not only are there physical affairs, there can be emotional affairs that can affect a relationship/marriage just as effectively, or be just as devastating. A family member of mine went through that...
