Tell that to the person getting the 20% pay cut.

Yeah the furlough was over inflated...I didn't need those extra two days of pay per 2-week payperiod.

So on my furlough day (yesterday) I was in Dallas visiting with a friend who works for the Immigration office. They are not on furlough, can telework from home 2 days a week (which means they don’t do anything, according to my friend) and they have a flexible work schedule for the other three. His shop is about 20 or so folks, he is a GS-15 and his staff is all GS-14, 13 and a few 12s. He use to work for the Army and saw this train wreck coming and moved over to ICE…but he tells me they are the biggest bunch of lazy ass GS civies ever imaged and when called to the carpet the first thing they all do is run to the union.

I swear I am only voting for Democrats in the next series of elections…this process is so broken and distorted…I think the only way to fix this mess is to complete run it off the tracks into the ravine!

As I recall 22 days was as far as they could go before this was a RIF.

I have heard friends of mine that work with other fed agencies say the same thing that SF18C says. DOD is the only one that decided to go the egalitarian route. While there are some douche bags that work in my command, I wouldn't say most of them are. Most are retired Os and NCOs that have a good work ethic. Many work overtime to get things done and never claim overtime or comp time. Those are the guys really getting screwed because, guess what, they still do stuff on their furlough day because that is what they learned while they were in.

Exact situation at the base I just retired from; even the non-vets are just really dedicated folks, just the way they roll up here. I went back for someone else's ceremony and gave a briefing on what the permanent furlough thing feels like. I hope some who are eligible (but not properly positioned) don't do a hasty thing when they're not ready for it. But many have just had it; sucks big time.

Someone keeps putting out sequels to this really dismal movie while those who should have this laid at their feet should be immediately terminated for complete failure to achieve a critically core performance objective.
