I heard the dumbest comment I've ever heard on talk radio today.
"There are over 75 million Dads in this country but that doesn't compare to the over 85 million Moms"
WHAT??????
Where the heck did the other 10 million kids come from if it wasn't from a Dad?

Mortality rates are much higher for men, and hence a shorter life expectancy.

Which brings up the question: Why do men die before their wives?
A: Because they want to.

I assume 10 million have "baby daddies" instead of fathers. Big difference.

Guys, think about it! One dad can impregnate multiple women. Thus one dad can make 10 - 20 moms. In this world of "shared WIC", too many so called "Dads" are in the baby making business for money. :munchin

But that would negate her being a Mom also which takes away from the Mom category.

Conversely, though, one woman can be reason that three men become "dads". Not at all uncommon here in the Detroit area.
Math alone ain't gonna do it.

Plato, very true, but the number of months sitting while pregnant on the woman's part, versus going from bed to bed on the man's part, increase the numbers dramatically for the number of "Moms". :munchin :D

I blame federal and local governments as one of the main reasons for the huge increase in single mothers. When government becomes the becomes the source of income to women instead of men, the family is destroyed and the men truly become sperm donors. Governmental support of single women has destoyed a large percentage of the black family. Before Obama was elected, 32% of the people in the United States received government support in one form or another. Now, the number is up to around 47%. That is disgraceful.
This is the reason in this video.

In the historic Buck v. Bell decision, which is now mocked by every 1st year law student. O.W. Holmes commented "Three generations of imbeciles is enough."
I dug these statistics up, but I have yet to thoroughly verify through HHS (if that's possible online):
welfare statistics 2012 (http://www.statisticbrain.com/welfare-statistics/)
The most interesting numbers are the relative hourly wages by state which are given, not earned. Place that on top of free/discounted health care, free phones, free internet, etc, what incentive do recipients have to hop off the boat? Especially those living in urban communities where everything is close by, and the more kids you have, the more money you get? Take dad out of the equation and there's more money for mama. A sad state of affairs indeed, and I do not foresee it getting any better without imposing say, a 6-9 month non-renewable (ever) time limit on ALL freebies after a thorough background check and random drug screens.
Top 10 Hourly Wage Equivalent Welfare States in U.S.
State Hourly Wage Equivalent
Hawaii $17.50
Alaska $15.48
Massachusetts $14.66
Connecticut $14.23
Washington, D.C. $13.99
New York $13.13
New Jersey $12.55
Rhode Island $12.55
California $11.59
Virginia $11.11

What most of us considered "normal" when we were growing up is not the norm today. Drug addiction and welfare has totally changed our world.
Good points Your Honor. Being born out of wedlock however is something I grew up with as being the norm in the 80's. Hell, I was born out of wedlock. I don't see that as much of an issue as say, being a lazy PoS. However, laziness is contagious I guess when mama or papa sits outside on the stoop drinking 40 oz beers and smoking dope in the open at 9:00 in the morning waiting for their welfare check. If that's what you grew up seeing, no wonder there is a problem. On an aside, I grew up in a trailer park as a "latch key kid" practically raising myself because dad exited, stage left, and Mom had to pick up the slack.
I did not have any "normalcy" in my life growing up, but I felt the need to personally better myself. So at 18 I tried to enlist in the RA, but stuff from my past caught up with me (that damn honesty thing), but I was able to join the guard at 19. People making a conscious decision to be counterproductive is not an excuse for what is going on in this country. If we start drug testing/alcohol screening every single welfare recipient, the collectors with drop like flies. The baby mama's will have a shit fit, probably lose custody of their children to the state or private organization because of drug addiction, but hell, the kids may wind up with a better shot at life. I'm not for the state raising kids, but if there are no other options...
There are also plenty of people willing to adopt kids, so if they shorten/reform that whole process while maintaining the integrity of thorough background checks I think the country would at least be stepping in the right direction.
Rant off, apologies.
