Edward Snowden had absolutely no connection to US Army Special Forces.

USASOC says NSA leak suspect Edward Snowden has no ties to Fort Bragg
Edward Snowden, the government contract worker who reportedly leaked revelations about National Security Agency surveillance of U.S. citizens, has no ties to Fort Bragg's U.S. Army Special Operations Command, a spokesman said Tuesday.
The United Kingdom's Guardian newspaper reported Sunday that Snowden enlisted in the Army in 2003 and tried to join Special Forces. The story said Snowden broke both legs in a training accident and was discharged.
"There's no record of him here, ever," said Lt. Col. Dave Connolly, chief of public affairs for the three-star command headquarters at Fort Bragg.
U.S. Army Special Operations Command oversees the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, which is in charge of selection and training of Special Forces soldiers, popularly known as Green Berets.

The Telegraph vs. Guardian. (http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/timstanley/100221535/is-edward-snowdens-story-unravelling-why-the-guardians-scoop-is-looking-a-bit-dodgy/)
Is Edward Snowden's story unravelling? Why the Guardian's scoop is looking a bit dodgy
Lookin' like a shell-game, about to get so many rabbit trails that "the watchers" will (again) forget what it was they were so concerned about. "Let's see, what were those other scandals we were supposed to check into?"

Team Sergeant,
Can I ask a clarifying question.
From the information at hand I assume Snowden is suggesting he himself enlisted 18X.
I also understand that USASOC doesn't technically take over until, what? SOPC or whatever they call it now, maybe SFAS, or even until one PCSs to Bragg for the Q?
The accident he? described sounds like a jump week at BAC accident? (2 broken legs and discharged)
So my question is, was he an 18X who just never made it very far down the pipeline, (i.e. never actually technically made it to USASFC as a "student", or is it actually total BS and he never dropped an SF packet of any sort?
The former is just easy misunderstanding, poor reporting, semantics, the later throws a pretty poor light on the lad.

I think there is another question.
In what time frame did the 18X program accept GED's??
I was under the impression that a GED prevented you from entering the 18X program?? At least in the time frame for this POS...

Ah yes, I forgot about that.
I believe coming in as an 11B and crossing over during Basic, there may have been a loophole for GED there?
But now we're getting into "unlikely land"
Another thought is he may have had a 11B 1040 contract to RIP and onto the 75th. After all, to the media they're all Special Forces.
Hell, he might have had a 38B - Civil Affairs Contract, they're USASOC after all...

I don't know Snowden's military background but if the USASOC PAO says he was never at Ft. Bragg then all that tells me is that he's a wannabe.....
It's amusing how many people bring up "Special Forces" just to try to be cool by association.....

"Snowden was never a student at SWCS. He broke his legs while at Fort Benning. His intent was to enter the X-ray program – but that never happened and would not have happened because he only had a GED. Hope this helps.

My question is this. How did he get the job he had with only a GED? What MOS did he enlist for? Back in my time, a GED was also an automatic disqualifier for any intel MOS. pretty much the only thing you could get was 11B or mess cook.
As I stated here before, I was part of SOCOM only because PSYOP is part of unconventional warfare and I NEVER claimed to be SF, SEAL or any other such soldier. Too much respect for you. It just pisses me off at Snowden that much more for these claims. This guy needs to be hung. Firing squad is too good for him. And, with ammo prices what they are, a good rope is a lot cheaper these days.

I was simply reiterating the facts already stated here -- especially since the media is not. With all due respect, I don't believe my feelings are relevant.
