View Full Version : Ross T. Hlushko, Liar and Special Forces Fraud

Normally I wouldn't publically out a liar and fraud that claimed membership in the Special Forces Regiment unless he had done so for financial or personal gain, but with our next member of the "Hall of Shame", I'll make an exception.

I had the misfortune to aquaint myself with a Mr. Ross T. Hlushko on a survivalist website that will remain unnamed, but it was the same one where I helped out another SF Poser, Patrick Curtis Kelly aka "Fat Pat" in Ohio law enforcement circles.

Mr. Hlushko claimed being a "Special Forces Weapons Specialist" with the
6th SFGA from 1969 to 1975. Unfortuately for this poser, his math and research skills were lacking because the 6th Group was disbanded in 1971 and in 1969 this poser was 15 YEARS OLD!

When I realised this POS that he was a fraud, I attempted to give him an honorable way out:

"Mr. Hlushko,
No one that I know who was in the 6th SFGA from 1969 to 1971 has heard of you and I know quite a few. You stated that you were in the 6th SFGA from 1969 to 1975 and maybe you didn't realize it, but the 6th SFGA was disbanded in 1971.

Your math is kind of "off" also. If you're 58, you would have been 15 in 1969, too young to have been in the military and WAY too young to have been SF Qualified or on an ODA.

After you "left" in 6th in 1975, you stated you went to "Spec Ops". What "Spec Ops" unit outside of US Army Special Forces was there during that time period? The answer is NONE.

I went through Airborne School in 1978 and I never heard of you while I was there and NO ONE homesteads at a service school for for 15 years.

Mr. Hlushko, your math doesn't add up nor does your story. I think you're an SF Poser, but I want to give you the benefit of a doubt. No more blowing this off because it WON'T go away. Give me ANYTHING to substantiate your claim to be a member of my regiment and I'll admit that I was wrong and you will have my sincerest PUBLIC apology.

If you aren't SF Qualified and made an error in judgement, simply admit your mistake, remove any and all reference to being SF here on XXX and change your avatar and all will be forgiven.

If you don't substantiate your claim of being SF and or admit your mistake and remove all reference to being SF, I will publicly out you.

No one from the 6th SF has ever heard of you. You are not listed in Shermans. Your timeline and your story doesn't add up. Being in a PS2 gamingclan does not make you Special Forces. We have payed in blood to have the honor of wearing the Green Beret and you haven't. We take this very seriously.

I have already sent a FOIA request regarding this matter. Respond soonest.

This POS responded in a typical poser fashion:

"Not using real name , due to type of work I do. This an alias that has been set up for me. If you would please stop looking for me as It is being noticed by my higher ups.
Thank you"

Well Mr. Hlushko, your higher ups should take notice of your 2-1 that I just received from the NPRC. It shows that you did only 11 months in the Army before you were discharged as a PRIVATE E-2! The only award that you received was a "Glad-You-Came" ribbon. No Airborne Wings, no Special Forces Tab, NOTHING! You never made it out of OSUT, according to public records.

I gave you an honorable way out of this and you thought I was bluffing. Guess what buddy? I NEVER BLUFF. Have a very SF day!

Discharged for the 'good of the service'.....did quite a few of those when a DI. Quickest way to get rid of a bum without all of the JAG BS.

Just found our "6th Group Weapons Sergeant" buddy posting on the Green Beret Club and notified the Moderators there. Anyone here a member there?

http://www.greenberetclub.com/forum/topic/1275-newbie/

Our hero was also BANNED from the unnamed site where he had the unfortunate chance to run into me. Here's his new avatar over there. I think it's more than fitting.

Mr. Hlushko you have been called out and found wanting. You aren't fit to clean the boots of an airborne soldier, let alone a Green Beret.

Apologies won't suffice; you will be flogged unmercifully in the court of public opinion.

That's a very fitting award. Attention to orders! ....

I tried to give him an honorable way out and unfortunately for him, he didn't take it.

This is the response from the mods of the site that this POS was making his false claims. Much respect to them.

Alright, if anyone is curious, here is why I locked this thread: When this person claimed to be Special Forces, it was investigated. Publicly available information revealed he was not, and had never been, Special Forces qualified or even attached to a Special Forces unit. In fact, publicly available information reveals this person had no elite military training of any kind.

Moderators asked the OP about the discrepancy and gave him the opportunity to own up to it. If he had done that, then we would have simply redacted the false part of his post and that would have been the end of it. (Okay, maybe we would have given him a fitting title--for a while). Instead, he claimed that his account had been hacked (among other things) and claimed that he wasn't the one who wrote the false statement in his introductory post. We were able to confirm that this was a second falsehood.

For these reasons, moosetucson has been banned. Contrary to the opinions of some, banning people is not something we do lightly and we'd much prefer that everyone behave responsibly. For my own part, I would be concerned if someone falsely claiming to be SF gave tactical advice to someone who then followed that advice to his or her detriment. Real Special Forces soldiers are widely respected and are seen as authorities on a variety of subjects. I'd prefer we didn't have forum members claiming such credentials when they haven't been earned. If we allowed that, I believe the quality of our forums would suffer.

I believe there are several lessons to take away from this:
1) We, the Moderators, care a lot about the quality of the information and discussion that takes place here;
2) Don't lie to Moderators if you're asked about the truthfulness of something you've posted. People make all kinds of claims all over the internet and here as well--the fact that we've asked you about it means we believe it may be particularly troublesome; and
3) If you want to impress people, do something impressive. Don't just get on the internet and claim to be something you're not. Sure, it's easier, but it is far less satisfying in your own life and you're likely to be called on it.

I am leaving this thread locked because there is nothing else to say about this.

Ross T. Hlushko Special Forces Fraud

Reading his military records was very amusing, that might be one of the shortest military careers I've ever read.
