A very interesting - and troubling - read. Since the article relates the story of 1 veteran (having to quit after 4 years as a state trooper), it would appear to indicate that the pulmonary damage done is irreversible - like COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). Something else that caught my eye - from the article:

"Of course the subtext to many of these conversations is that a registry sets up a host of potential liabilities for the government, a pipeline for new veterans’ benefits, and the risk of fraud. That could be expensive. Indeed, many people have blamed the government’s seemingly glacial response to the crisis on its impulse to save money." That would be laughable if (as in this case) it were not so tragic. As we all know this last is an outright lie. The government wastes more money in ONE DAY than most of us could in an entire lifetime. However, it seems that they only have an "impulse to save money" when it comes to those who have sacrificed (more than they know, apparently) to serve this country.

Very disturbing. In light of everything else that is pointing to an abuse of power, obfuscation, and possibly outright criminal behavior in this Administration - we are going to need a committee just to keep track. And it just keeps coming
