At least for the month of April the drought is over here in Iowa, 4+ inches today lots of flash flooding. Anymore rain and we will be floating the tanks at work :).

Yep, up here the suck continues as well. If you missed out on the white-water trip out west you could just bring/rent a canoe and try the little Kickapoo - sharp turns, high walls (well, they were high), beaver dams, tree overhangs closer than before - better than an E-ticket ride at Disneyland with the flow currently.
At least Fargo made their goal of 1,000,000 sand bags filled.
Meanwhile I hear the Chicago Mayor's office may be washed into Lake Michigan...

Bracing for impact. Tornado watches just went out....
Agree with SF18C post. Texas could get desparate this summer. Drove down to the Valley yesterday and it is unbelievably dry!! Nothing for the cattle to graze on. The only thing that seemed abundant from around Sinton to the border were POLICE!! State, local, border patrol and some sedans that were of various colors with antennas parked in numerous areas. Wondered if there was some sort of major drug search. But no water! Last I heard, 70% of state under extreme or severe drought. In the late 90's they passed legislation to provide for long range water needs. Never been funded. I've heard a lot of rice farmers already cut off. And to top it all off--because of drought last fall, the crawfish are small!!

Trust me we would if we could, we had a drought of sorts last year but nothing that could compare to how other parts of the country suffered.

Our April showers continue to be of the white type. Nine more inches are expected by tomorrow. :boohoo The shoveling PT season has just gone to OT - or maybe extra innings.
Hubby just called and said Scott AFB sent everyone home early due to flooding. The parking lot at USTRANSCOM had water up to the windows of the vehicles in some spots. JimP I hope that doesn't include you!
A picture of SDDC's parking lot this afternoon

Yeah but the good news is that it won't last that long this time of the year ;).

We need to get some of that water out here to California. The guys I hunt with had sell their cattle 3 months early because of no rain. All the grass sprouted and died...

In STL it seems we are in a drought or a flood. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground. Luckily we live far enough from the river that flooding doesn't effect us much.
