I am fond of a duty belt set up myself. Most people sleep in shorts or pj's, so for me a duty belt rig was the answer for hanging on the wall next to my bed for 2 am wake ups. Mine is just an old black duty belt, but is set up for pistol, knife and shotgun ammo now that NY is AR unfriendly.

Good looking kit.

Nice! :lifter

You need a length of surgical tubing and a trauma kit...

Nice knives. What do you use a war belt for?

There are times when I am on the ranch and I like to have my AR mags at the ready, for Coyotes, yep just Coyotes. Most of the time, I wear my pistol, so the belt has everything on it that I need to just grab it and throw it on. My pistol, pistol mags, AR mags, knives, Leatherman(tool that is used the most) is all on there and it is just easy to throw on and go for a walk out in the middle of nowhere. Now, as of six months ago, I have had a bigger reason to carry a gun out there in the middle of nowhere. We have had a couple guys show up and try and steal my Dinosaur bones and they are worth alot of money. So, I have it in my head that maybe more people know about them and they just might have the Balls to try and come out and take them... and not pictured is my .338 Lapua and I can reach out and touch them from way out there. Not going to take them if I am out there. Anyway, thats what I use it for.

**Honestly, I really dought that I would shoot someone out there. Its just a thought!!!

Gotcha. I was wondering- most call it a pistol belt or duty belt. War belt sounded odd. I'd add a good Surefire light on that belt too.

So...... dino bones, huh?

War belt is sort of common vernacular now. ATI makes one with the actual name Warbelt. That's what I've got. A far cry from the old ALICE pistol belts. It's sort of like an upside down taco with a rigger's belt in the middle. Like most other pieces of gear, they have their advantages/disadvantages, but I'm fond of mine.

+1 on dino bones? That's an interesting problem to have.

+1 no BOK/IFAK/TK, and no light?

I did not know that. Guess I'm behind on my gear nomenclature.

I'm still curious about the dinosaur bones. Are we talking t-rex? :D

I'll stick with 'web gear' or 'LBE' thank you.

Maybe it's just me, but 'warbelt' kind of brings airsofters to my mind.

Richard :munchin

I saw on the internet somewhere that there is trouble brewing between the Dakotas! It seems the wealthier North - oil money, etc - is jealous of the culture and refinement in the South, and desires to 'free' the many people working in low wage 'call centers'.

They want to unify the Dakotas, and subjugate the Southerners. I don't blame the South, I'd go to war, too! :D

My 'war belt' in my day - we didn't call it that, though. No 'Spartan' or any other signature blade - USN issued combat diver's knife - my personal all-around favorite and cost me zip.

My 'harness' now hangs on a hook in the closet next to my Winchester Model 25 12Ga pump.

We didn't call them that either. Mine looked a lot like yours, minus the custom webbing. Back then, a Gerber was a big deal to me.

Hunh - this was my 'war belt' in my day - we didn't call it that, though.

And FWIW - that's not a 'Spartan' blade - it's a USN issued combat diver's knife - my personal all-around favorite and cost me zip.

Y'all never heard of the First and Second Amendments? He can call it whatever he wants. Can't we just enjoy the gun porn?
Tac Blade, you could of saved yourself a lot of grief if you'd called it "I-got-Second-Amendment-Rights-So-F-You-Diane-Feinstein Belt".

Yeah, he said Dinosaur bones. He lives in South Dakota. Lots of fossils there. Valuable? Ask Sue Hendrickson about the $8 million.

All you assets and such -- go on, get on back to the little kids table. Us grown up QPs can handle teasing the new kid just fine by ourselves.
Go on! Git!

That is WAY cool. I imagine if you set up a "bubba-cue" grill nearby with a piss tube you'd get a whole bunch of volunteers to come and "guard' the site. Looks liek a LOT of fun.

Yes, I have one full T-Rex and bunch of Triceratops and a few others I have not got names for yet? We sold the T-Rex to a museum in Holland and they are coming over at the end of April to help finish digging it out. Its pretty exciting to find a 60 million year old Dino!! The pics below are of one of the Triceratops I have ready to come out this summer. Its going to be a HOT SomeBitch too!!!

The one showing us digging is at one of the sites. My son on the left, my buddy on the far right and the fat, grey haired guy, 20 years out of the Army, is me in the middle. LOL!!!

WOW!!!! That is so cool! The triceratop was my favorite childhood dinosaur. T-Rex was a close second, as was Allosaurus. I can't imagine how it feels to find a "60 million year old dino". I get excited when I find my car keys! :D

In all seriousness, thanks for sharing this. That is pretty darn cool, sir. Do you use any sort of imagery equipment? Or are you super-skilled with two sticks as you wander around like a native on the hunt for water? JK! :D

Can't wait till the Chinese find out.

If rhino horn is strong, triceratops horn has got to be ten times as good!

Ok so I will ask...What's the coolest?

1. A well provisioned "war belt"
2. Dinosaur bones to keep in collection or license to museums
3. A 150,000 acre ranch (wow!)
4. 10 years in the Army
5. Coyotes
6. The prospect of wasting looters with a 338 Lapua
7. Selling Dinosaur bones for big bucks

He couldn't handle the ribbing that takes place not only in every team room, but in most Army (and I suspect, to some extent) and other service barracks.

I'll miss those dinosaur fossil pics!:D

Richard, Did you like that Mark 3 dive knife? I was issued one and it used to rust from the condensation from your breath, much less the saltwater immersion while diving. Didn't matter how much LSA you put on it. some guys put cosmoline like grease from the motor pool on them, which worked OK. Those of us older guys that still had Mark 2s from the 70's were always fending off offers to buy or trade them. It looks like you have something taped to it. I still have a day/night flare taped to my Mk2, but I'm thinking of canning it since I'm not sure of the long term stability.

Richard
04-02-2013, 13:46
I, too, used cosmoline (just like we used to use with the K-Bars we had for dive knives) and didn't have any issues with it rusting up much.

Nothing attached - the plastic scabbard is wrapped with 550 lb test OD parachute cord - deadens the tell-tale 'clink' you get when the plastic hits a rock or something and also gives you a good 8' or so of usable cord.

All the pryotechnics are gone from my harness. ;)
