I want to make you guys aware of a new, small Wounded Warrior support program. It's called the Warrior Bonfire Project and is based here in Vicksburg, MS and the airport across the river in Tallulah, LA. It has just kicked off, having had it's first Warrior Bonfire Weekend in early Jan. It will be primarily of value to WWs here in the Southeast. 7th and 20th Group guys, particularly. The founder, Dan Fordice, is a former CMDR. of HQ/Service Co. 2/20. His father (deceased) is a former Gov. of this State. He and his brother own Fordice Construction which holds the US Corps of Engineers contract for producing concrete mats for errosion control on the MS River. Dan also is an avid private pilot and has a small fleet of aircraft, including a twin seater P-51 Mustang, a T-6, a Husky and a 1948 Twin Beech (passenger configured, seats 9.) Dan has used these a/c to ferry WWs home on hospital leave on many occaisions. The Director is SGT Albert "Bert" Winschel USMCR, himself a WW. Bert is a member of 3d Force Recon Co. in Mobile, Al and did tours in Iraq and Afghanistan as a breecher, where he was hit by small arms fire. He rehabbed well enough to make a recently completed Africa deployment with the company.

If you guys know anyone in the region that is combat wounded, please put them in touch with www.warriorbonfireproject.org. They also have a facebook page. We'd love to help. Thanks!
