Mark LaRue, LaRue Tactical Leading on Policy to Limit State, Local Law Enforcement Sales to Civilian Standards
FIREARMS POLICY COALITION
posted on February 8, 2013

According to this statement posted on LaRue Tactical’s Facebook page this afternoon, re-posted below in its entirety, LaRue Tactical will use the same state and local laws for private gun ownership to state and local law enforcement agency procurement. We support Mark LaRue’s thoughtful and reasonable position and thank him for his courageous leadership on this issue. We hope to see other manufacturers, distributors, and retailers follow suit.

We’d like to remind FPC supporters that Mark LaRue and LaRue Tactical are one of the very few firearms manufacturers who have seriously supported the fight for Second Amendment rights in the Golden State. LaRue makes some amazing firearms and accessories, and their great support of America’s gun owners and our Second Amendment rights make buying LaRue an even greater value.

NEWS RELEASE:
02/08/2013 LEANDER, TX.

Updated Policy for State and Local Agency Law Enforcement Sales:

Due to the recent and numerous new Anti-gun/Anti-2nd Amendment laws passed and/or pending across our country, LaRue Tactical has been forced to reconsider how we provide products to state and local agencies.

Effective today, in an effort to see that no legal mistakes are made by LaRue Tactical and/or its employees, we will apply all current State and Local Laws (as applied to civilians) to state and local law enforcement / government agencies. In other words, LaRue Tactical will limit all sales to what law-abiding citizens residing in their districts can purchase or possess.

State and local laws have always been a serious focus of this firm, and we are now dovetailing that focus with the constitutional rights of the residents covered in their different areas by the old and new regulations.

We realize this effort will have an impact on this firm’s sales – and have decided the lost sales are less danger to this firm than potential lawsuits from erroneous shipments generated by something as simple as human error.

Thanks in advance for your understanding.

Mark LaRue

Hmmm...

My 2¢, the Feds haven't "done" anything YET!

But those states that are passing laws and trying to restrict 2ndA rights are the "target" of this policy (and LEOs serving those states).

Kinda freaking genius!

Olympic joins other companies that have recently cut off business to various state agencies due to the adoption of firearms regulations. A letter, posted on the Olympic Arms Facebook page and provided to Examiner, is signed by company president Brian Schuetz, whose father started the business several years ago on the Nisqually Flats south of Fort Lewis.

"Olympic Arms today took the strategy one step farther, inviting “all firearms manufacturers, distributors and firearms dealers to join us in this action to refuse to do business with the State of New York. We must stand together, or we shall surely fall divided.”

I wonder how many others will stand together... :munchin

York Arms - NY deliveries

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Based on the recent legislation in New York, we are prohibited from selling rifles and receivers to residents of New York. We have chosen to extend that prohibition to all governmental agencies associated with or located within New York. As a result we have halted sales of rifles, short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns, machine guns, and silencers to New York governmental agencies.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For "civilian" customers residing in New York:
At your choice, we will:

• complete your order and ship to a dealer of your choice outside of NY
• refund your payment in full
• hold your items here for up to 6 months, at no charge - if you are in the process of leaving NY and taking residence in another state.

For LE/Govt customers in New York:
•Your orders have been cancelled.

Extreme Firepower Inc, LLC
Government Sales

The Federal Government and several states have enacted gun control laws that restrict the public from owning and possessing certain types of firearms. Law-enforcement agencies are typically exempt from these restrictions. EFI, LLC does not recognize law-enforcement exemptions to local, state, and federal gun control laws. If a product that we manufacture is not legal for a private citizen to own in a jurisdiction, we will not sell that product to a law-enforcement agency in that jurisdiction.

California
EFI, LLC has registered with the DoJ CFLC program and we will sell any product that we legally can to the public. We will not, under any circumstances, sell any of our products to law-enforcement or state agencies until the California legislature repeals the gun control laws that have been enacted, as these entities have lobbied in favor of statewide gun bans.

EFI, LLC will not sell anything to the following local government agencies until their firearm and/or magazine restrictions have been repealed:
City of Chicago, Illinois
New York State
Washington, DC

All products that we manufacture are available to our military customers.

Templar Custom

...We will not sell arms to agents of the state of New York that hold themselves to be “more equal” than their citizens.

As long as the legislators of New York think they have the power to limit the rights of their citizens, in defiance of the Constitution, we at Templar will not sell them firearms to enforce their edicts.

Templar Custom is announcing that the State of New York, any Law Enforcement Departments, Law Enforcement Officers, First Responders within the State of New York, or any New York State government entity or employee will no longer be served as customers...

...We will also be reviewing the laws of the various states to determine if others will be joining New York on our “Do Not Sell” list.

Templar Custom invites all firearms manufacturers, distributors and firearms dealers to join us in this action to refuse to do business with the State of New York. We must stand together, or we shall surely fall divided.

Sincerely,
Bob Reynolds
President

We reported that Olympic Arms drew a line in the sand, refusing to do business with any state or law enforcement employees in New York until they reverse their recent gun control measures.

Now, Olympic Arms has drawn another line in the sand, calling out the Fraternal Order of Police when they were solicited to advertise in a FOP publication.

The following was posted to Olympic Arms Facebook page.

Olympic Arms was recently asked to advertise in the FOP Journal; the official magazine of the Fraternal Order of Police. It is well known that the FOP is a staunch supporter of Gun Control, had backed the AWB under Bill Clinton, and supports the current AWB under consideration that was introduced by Diane Feinstein. The FOP was actually accredited as being one of the sources that helped prepare the language of Gun Control suggestions that were forwarded by Vice President Biden. Below is a copy of our response to the FOP Journal:

Please forward this email to every major principal in your organization. Note, the post was reformatted to better fit this website.

AS:

1. The Fraternal Order of Police is on Congressional Record as having been a major supporter of the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban.
2. As a matter of fact and record, the FOP is accredited with assisting VP Biden in formulating the language of the newly proposed ban
3. Additionally, as a matter of fact and public record, the FOP is in support of the newly recommended Assault Weapons Ban introduced by Senator Feinstein.
a. FOP representatives were actually standing on the Stage during the presentation as a sign of “support”.

THEREFORE:
Olympic Arms, Inc, manufacturers of AR15 type firearms, firearms that these legislators would call “Assault Weapons”, will not be supporting in any way, shape, form or fashion, The Fraternal Order of Police, any organization that represents, supports, takes advertising dollars from, spends advertising dollars with, is in anyway related to, any individual who is a card carrying member of, or any person or entity in any way associated with the Fraternal Order of Police. Period.

Henceforth;
- Be assured that Olympic Arms will not rest in its efforts to educate our customers, fans and followers the extent of the hypocrisy committed by the FOP and FOP Journal (fighting to outlaw the firearms produced by the very companies they now solicit for advertising dollars…). You can also be certain that we continue to make every effort to properly educate the firearms consumer in general, of the same.
- Additionally, we will make continued efforts at assure that ALL firearms manufacturers are aware of the FOP’s support to strip Constitutional Rights from Americans, and their support of further unconstitutional gun control legislation.
- We pledge to inform all of our customers the lengths that the FOP and associated FOP affiliates by proxy (which includes all your advertisers)are willing to go to in order to strip the American Citizen of their Constitutional Rights, while at the same time writing in exemptions to the same legislation to ensure that their members maintain those same rights they would have stripped from others.
- Your actions are the actions of a rogue organization supporting tyranny, not an organization sworn to uphold the laws of the land, to protect, serve and defend their constituencies.

Let it be know, that your actions are reprehensible and shameful.

Received this email today:

Cheaper Than Dirt Supports Citizens'
2nd Amendment Rights

Recently companies such as LaRue Tactical and Olympic Arms announced they will no longer sell prohibited items to government agencies and personnel in states denying civilians to own those same items. It has been and will continue to be Cheaper Than Dirt's policy not to sell prohibited items to government agencies and agents in states, counties, cities and municipalities that have enacted restrictive gun control laws against their citizens. We support and encourage other companies that share in this sentiment.

Remember what CTD did less than 2 months ago post Newtown. They say they're pro 2A but suspended firearms sales quickly after the tragedy. Some say they did it to take a look at their inventory so they could raise their prices and others say they did it to avoid legal problems.

I say that if they did it to raise prices they could have marked their inventory 'sold out' until they raised their prices on that inventory for future sales. I wouldn't condemn them for raising prices; I think they made a fatal business decision during a time of high emotion and chose the wrong side.

And for that, I hope CTD goes out of business.

Not a big fan of Bill Clinton, but he is a very smart man - especially in his chosen profession of politics. He opined that the main reason that they lost the house in 1994 was because of the Assault Weapons Ban.

Maybe this is the point we should be making when we converse with our elected representatives.

Good for them. The House tried to get them to stay by putting in an exception that Hicap mags could be produced in Colorado..... but not sold here.
Their hypocrisy is stunning! Suddenly 30 rd mags are dangerous to us but not to Nebraskans or Okies?
Our State capitol is more like a zoo. Full of sheep, chickens, and rats.

Magpul just posted this to their FB page, ~19:00 CST:

"We're hearing some rumors that the Gov and the Dem caucus think we are bluffing. Just to clarify for them, then...we're not a political company. We dont play political games. We've made our position very clear, very publicly. We would not survive lying to our customer base, nor would we ever consider it. If you pass this, we will leave, and you will own it. We've already got plans in place to get PMAG manufacturing moved rapidly, and the rest of the company will follow. We will make sure to at least have a small remain-behind operation through the 2014 elections so that we can remind folks why we are gone."

It sounds like Magpul already has quietly taken steps to prep for a move. Who knows, maybe they've already purchased some land, or an empty building, or secured some commitments for tax breaks in another state.

But to be honest, I'm impressed that they are not answering those questions about where they're moving. Publicly they are 100% focused on the fight in Colorado and getting as many people (in state or out) to contact CO representatives. They have not given up, nor should we. I think that's the right move, and I applaud them for taking a stand, whether it works out or not.
