Having great weather has its drawbacks. If some of these proposed gun laws go into effect we may move.

And it was sunny today in the Pacific Northwest. But y'all don't move here because it rains all the time. Seriously. Don't move here. Unless you're a Republican. In that case, I will sponsor 300,000 immigrant visas.

speaking of totalitarian island-my entire family lives in MA(don't hold it against them) & the lovely Gov Duval Patrick, aka Obama jr, shut down EVERYTHING-state offices, city offices, trains, cars, private businesses, etc., after 4pm(there was maybe 2" snow by 6pm) & announced that the State police had the authority to arrest anyone caught on the roads. said offense is punishable by jail &/or fines-in the $100s until further notice... they didnt even do that for the Blizzard of 78, which i very vaguely remember, until after the storm ended and they knew how much landed where. Welcome to Massachusetts...

ajls, I grew up in Mass and live in Southern NH....Duval is just carrying on the standards set by past Dem's...Most reside in the "peoples republic" of Mass....his edict carries into tomorrow so the Bruins had to change their 1 pm Hockey game to 7 pm ( after King Duvals 24 hour edict) As you remember, in February, all we have are Celt's and Bruin's and alot of snow, cold dry weather and Boston Beer Works !!!!
Cheers,

you're supposed to move SOUTH, not North... ;-) my sister told me this afternoon he had said 'til further notice'- stranding another relative in Town for the entire weekend- so good to hear its only through Sat. & you can tell he's not a true Bostonian by messing with the B's schedule. Boston Beer Works rocks. I visit every time I go back to see the family.

Lowell, huh? North Shore's moving up in the world since I left... I don't drink flavored beers(or coffee), so we're safe. ;) Fenway Pale is pretty good-& I'm always up for a Guiness where available. I'd love to have a beer with a fellow Beer Works fan and MA refugee.

The Black Rose brings back some fond memories...and a particulalry friendly flight crew staying at the Parker House one evening a long, long, time ago...but I digress. Thank you for the flashback !
Boston has been through this and probably worse before - no matter what the hype says.
Be safe...hunker down for a couple of days.

If you don't run your power equipment and small engines till the tank is empty before storing them, you need to get a gasoline preservative like Sta-Bil or Pri-G and treat the gas you are using.
Old untreated gasoline will clog carbs and kill engines. The shelf life of untreated gas is 30-90 days, treated gas can be used as long as one to two years later.
If you do not plan to store a lot of gas, every 90 days or so, you can dump the untreated gas into your car, and then refill the cans.
Ethanol laced gasoline is not good for small engines, including marine engines. If you look around, you can still find 100% pure gasoline. I prefer to buy premium grade pure gasoline for my small engines, both two and four stroke, for maximum performance, shelf life, and engine life.
Just a few thoughts.

Hope everyone in the Northeast made it thru the storm safe with all property undamaged. My sister in Boston said they got right about 2', but my parents in SE Mass got almost 3'. thanks to the neighborhood kids who shoveled the driveway so my parents didn't have to !

Absolutely TR, I put stabilizer in all my 2 1/2 gal and 5 gal containers which assures me that ALL my gas is treated. I learned that years ago while storing my motorcycle from October to March !!! It wasnt Pretty! Can't wait to move somewhere where I can get more than 7 months of "proper" weather.I'm thinking anywhere from Orlando SOUTH...not as South as you are!!

QP TR,
Thanks for the advice, it is much appreciated :) . I am a longtime Sta-bil user, and I usually cycle out my fuel every 6-12(Aug./Sep. and/or March) months. As for the snowblower, I forgot to empty it since the 2010 season , so even with Sta-bil, it gummed up a bit, additionally, the primer tube was disconnected. I usually either run my equipment dry, or utilize the fuel shutoff(if equipped) while running until the engine quits at the end of their respective season.
As for ethanol, I had a brand new weed eater self-destruct after 3 weeks out of the box this past summer, the fuel line disintegrated. The Lowes by me does carry premium pre-mixed 40:1 and 50:1, it is expensive, but I may consider it.

Don't waste your money on that Lowe's crap, most of the cans rust out and leak.
Try this and find a station near you, one that sells premium pure gasoline, if you can.

MK262MOD1....any progress on your "situation" I heard today on WEEI that some parts of RI had Zero plowing due to "no overtime" for plow guys, considering the storm was on a weekend!!! True ?
MK262MOD1
02-11-2013, 23:50
Partially true. I was told that a lot of the plow equipment actually broke down due to poor maintenance. The state was begging private plows to stop plowing lots and assist plowing roads. (they were handing out contracts)
Pretty ridiculous all things considered. I mean RI is a northern state...but You wouldn't have known it last weekend.
Cheers
Are you telling me it actually snowed up there? In the middle of February?
