The Senate Armed Services Committee has delayed a vote on the nomination of Chuck Hagel to serve as Defense Secretary after he failed to turn over requested financial information. Hagel had been asked to disclose details about foreign funding he had received, either through paid speeches or through entities with which he was involved. In a short statement yesterday, Hagel said he couldn't comply with the request.

Whew. The writers at Israel Matsav were just talking about how McCain and other Republicans were going to support his nomination, or at least vote "present" instead of "buzz off."

This doesn't kill his chances, it just delays it.

If they decide to vote it out of committee he will go to the floor. If he goes to the floor there aren't enough votes for a filabuster. Until he asks to have his name withdrawn he is still O's man.

Maybe it's because it's 3am here, but I'm finding this to be just a bit over the top. Even CAIR and ISNA know better than to call themselves that.

Hagel Disqualifies Himself from Defense Job

How can you be disqualified from something you were never qualified for in the first place?

Apparently the Party Lines have voted and Hagel has cleared the Senate Confirmation Hearing. He now heads to the floor.
