I am in the middle of an assignment for college where I am writing a paper on MSG Benavidez, but I'm having trouble finding a credible source quoting Pres Reagan where here tells White House reporters, "you are going to hear something you wouldn't believe if it were a script" just before awarding MSG Benavidez the Medal of Honor.
Any help would be great, as I have searched quite extensively for a credible source.

On Feb. 24, 1981, President Reagan awarded Benavidez the Medal of Honor.

"A nation grateful to you, and to all your comrades living and dead, awards you its highest symbol of gratitude for service above and beyond the call of duty," Reagan said.

Before the award ceremony, Reagan told White House reporters: "You are going to hear something you would not believe if it were a script."

Other than a zillion press references to the remark made by, uh, press, if you need a cite that the remark was made by someone other than a journalist the remark as quoted was cited by Congressman Ted Poe (R-TX) in his remarks about MSG Benavidez (RIP) and the presentation into the Congressional Record.
Try this:

Thank you Gentlemen, But it needs to be from a university library or peer reviewed, for me to be able to use it.

Here's the transcript of Pres. Reagan reading the citation.

http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/index.php?pid=43454

It doesn't show Pres. Reagan making that remark. But he could have said it and it has just been occluded from the official transcript(s).

.

Here is a link that shows the quote that Pres. Reagan did say it.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll see the quote right above "Special Sites to view on Roy Benavidez".

.

Here's a You-Tube video of Pres. Reagan reading the citation and then awarding the MoH to MSG Benavidez, followed by a speech MSG Benavidez gave in 1991.

Hope you can get something more from this.

So I guess Wikipedia is out then .... :D

.

Have you tried contacting the Ronald Reagan library?
They might be able to steer you were you can find the quote.

Here's a link to the library and the diary entry the President made on 24Feb81, to day he presented the medal to MSG Benavidez.
