Nothing like using the military as political pawns for the Executive....again....

The recommendation is tied to the Defense Department's 2014 budget recommendation, which was expected to be sent to Congress this month, one of the officials said. But the officials acknowledge it is going to be seen as an effort to push Congress to stop the automatic budget cuts that could go into effect if no deal is reached on spending reductions.

Didn't some guy say one time "Only in Washington can a 1% increase be called a cut".

On the serious side - lots of pawns being moved around the chess board right now. Well, except for those who spend the day doing nothing.

That is due to the new math they teach in the public schools!

It's still a raise...although it's still going to be below the price hike of everything else. No real news here...except that maybe they (Washington) need to save a few dollars in order to pay benefits to same sex couples in the military.

I can't believe how much it cost to live now compared to just 5 years ago. It's getting bad. My company didn't give pay raises this year at all. But prices still increase and there is $380.00 less in my check each month. Don't know what thats all about. Because both candidates said they would not raise taxes on the middle class.

We are not the first generation of middle class to get fucked. I remember my Dad cursing about this when I was a kid. I'm actually thinking about cashing in. Buying a house and just live off my retirement. It really doesn't pay to work anymore.

I have thought about that alot and its true. Gas is way up, which means everything else, especially food, is way up. Less money becuase of the SS tax going up. Looking at a furlough (as a DOD employee). This sucks.

Yeah - he's displayed a whole lot of moral courage these days huh??

On his way out the door, he's opened combat slots to women and recommended that we get jack-squat + 1 per cent as a raise. Nothing like tossing a grenade into the room as you leave. Class act.....

"Great job Brownie".
