View Full Version : Dem Rep: Women should serve in combat, but shouldn’t use assault weapons

On the very same day that Defense Secretary Leon Panetta lifted the ban on women serving in active combat zones, a Democratic congresswoman from New York argued that assault weapons are actually difficult for women to handle and should therefore be banned.

Rep. Carolyn McCarthy — a strong proponent for women serving in military combat roles — appeared on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight Thursday to make the case for Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s assault weapons ban. To that end, McCarthy argued that women should use traditional rifles rather than assault rifles because the former would would be “easier for a woman” to use.

I should send her a pic of the daughter on the Mk.19 going down into the village with the guys simply because she was the only female on the mountain. (Note: This was pre- FETs and Lionesses and stuff.)

Is a Mk.19 an assault weapon, or just a perk?

Judging from the Darwin Awards, stupidity is already quite painful...

Oh that's simple .... Just remove the warning labels off of things.

Yes, indeed that is one way - making the Darwin Awards highly competitive.

However, the researchers came up with another not-so-good alternative to make stupidity painful -
'the Democratic politician'; problem is the pain is felt by the constituents.

I can see it now.

"Private Candi, this M-4 with 30 rounds of 5.56 is just too much for you, I want you to take this 1903 Springfield and five rounds and clear that house.

No bayonet either, those are too scary as well."

BS Headline...She (McCarthy) didn't say that.

You're right - what she said was -

"Rep. Carolyn McCarthy — a strong proponent for women serving in military combat roles — appeared on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight Thursday to make the case for Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s assault weapons ban. To that end, McCarthy argued that women should use traditional rifles rather than assault rifles because the former would would be “easier for a woman” to use.........................."

So to paraphrase what she did say was ".. women should be able to serve in combat but would have trouble handling an assault rifle because they are women."

That reads like a sexist comment.

...women should use traditional rifles rather than assault rifles because the former would would be “easier for a woman” to use..."

YGBSM. The M-16 is about the kindest, gentlest, and easiest to functionally use rifle ever made. Maybe the good Congresswoman should use a traditional Remington Model 700 or Winchester Model 94 Carbine and then an M-16, and then tell us what we should make of her opinion.

If women can't use an M-16 or its derivatives, we gonna give 'em Red Ryder BB guns...which could still be a problem with that nasty ol' cocking mechanism and all.

And so it goes...

Let's keep things simple a just give the women the lighter (than the 91/30) Mosin Nagants like the M44 or M38. That should be much easier for them to handle than a scary M-16 or having to cock that Red Ryder.....

Given Rep. McCarthy's apparent expertise with firearm characteristics... she's been a busy little bee in that arena

Some of McCarthy’s most recently sponsored bills include:

H.R. 437: To regulate assault weapons, to ensure that the right to keep and bear arms is not unlimited.

H.R. 142: Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act of 2013

I can't even begin to wrap my head around McCarthy's statement... This is the problem with these people - nothing they say makes sense. There is no fact. There is no logic. Just doubletalk, emotion, and BS. They think their way is the only way, and they'll keep beating that drum until they get what they want.

Stupid people are too stupid to know they're stupid and so stupid they think stupid ideas are smart and that everyone else thinks like them (stupid). That's why you can't argue with a liberal.;)

You guys aren't reading between the lines. What Rep McCarthy is actually saying is she thinks assault weapons are too dangerous for women therefore they should be banned for men in the military also. See, its all in the plan. If they ban them in the military think how easy it will be to ban them everywhere.:D
