Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey said Thursday he believes the ban on women in combat positions contributed to the military’s current sexual assault problem.

“We’ve had this ongoing issue with sexual harassment, sexual assault. I believe it’s because we’ve had separate classes of military personnel–at some level,” Dempsey said at a joint press conference with Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta to formally announce the ban has been lifted.

Huh?

The man just keeps saying things that are more insane than his last utterance. This is the best the Army can do....?? We're doomed. :boohoo

Damn. This is what happens when politics takes precedence over duty. Its time to finalize the PACE plan. By the time this administration and its lapdogs have finished dismantling the constitution, the military, the economy, and the moral structure of the country, there won't be anything left to resist with; the barbarians will be at the gates.

You may recall a recent movie about the siege of Stalingrad which was entitled "Enemy at the Gates." In our present situation we find that the enemy is not at the gates, but rather well within them. These goblins who blew up the skyscrapers were well inside. It is time we went looking for them at their point of origin. - Jeff Cooper

This is the sort of military leadership that the POTUS selects.

Had I been fortunate enough to get that far, I would have been on a clip earlier in the day, at my retirement. They aren't going to make him an O-11.

I guess it is ok if those you are leading loose faith in you, as long as you don't loose the faith of your leadership ala Dempsey.

I think most true leaders would rather have it the Mattis way. Those he leads will never loose faith in him, but he is getting shitcanned because the POTUS lost faith in him.

My dad always taught me that if you take care of the troops and are a good leader, that is your reward. Although what your leadership thinks of you is important, it isn't as important as your troops knowing you have their backs.

And that's exactly what is expected of leadership and what those you lead deserve.

And with that concept in mind and GEN Dempsey's latest flatulent public opining, GEN Welsh's "12 Days of December" Air Force-wide inspections for "offensive, inappropriate, or pornographic" materials...such as World War II-era airplane nose art depicting fully clothed but "promiscuous" women  ...shows it's not just a single service issue out there.

And so it goes...

Dempsey has proven himself an idiot of late....a total f*ck job.
BTW, a simple observation.
If women are mens physical combat equals then why are they getting sexually assaulted? Why don't they just fight their way out as a guy would do?
Not trying to trivialize but just pointing out the obvious.

There you go, thinking again...

That is the crutch of the whole argument, and BTW, the whole issue of trying to raise boys today. On the one hand hollywood will have me believe that women can kick ass and take on 20 men at once and walk away without smudging their lipstick. The current DoD leadership tells me almost the same thing yet I have to "change the culture" and treat women special. BTW their PT performance does not need to be the same as a man's because they are putting out the same effort if not the same result. Then I am told I have to raise my boys to treat women with kid gloves, but they are equal, but they have to be treated different, but you must treat them the same, but make allowances and change your culture, but we won't change the standards, etc....

BTW. Notice that neither Dempsey nor Odierno ever served in the Infantry or earned a Ranger tab.

If Dempsy and Odierno ever served in the Infantry they would have the commen sense knowing that a female will most likely get sexually assaulted or harrased in a company of 150 Infantrymen. Oh, lets not forget the EO complaints either!

Maybe I am reading you wrong, but that statement seems to say that it is the woman's fault if she were to be raped. It is reasons such as this the sexual assault is so prevalant in the DoD. It has nothing to do with sex, as it never does, it is about power. In this case it is "I'll prove to you, you are not one of us".

United States Marine Corps Gen. James “Mad Dog” Mattis was notified that he was being replaced as commander of U.S. Central Command not by a phone call from Washington, but by a note passed to him by an aide, according to Foreign Policy’s Thomas E. Ricks.

The purging has begun, if you're a warrior and think independently; you're out and will be replaced by "yes men" to promote and implement Barry's policies.

So,
when we integrate the force and eliminate sexual assault does that mena we can stop wasting time with the SHARP requirements?

I personally think many (most?) guys have a terrible way of articulating themselves and come across in terrible ways- especially over the internet.

I think his point was- unless I'm mistaken- that sexual assault and harassment will go up- not down- if they are incorporated into the Infantry. GEN D's logic, I think, is what he was questioning, albeit maybe not in the best way... ?

Interesting how all these generals never stood up for these poor women in the past.
