I hope this is not a repeat........ "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And, who will go for us?' And I said, 'Here am I. Send me!".........Son Tay Raiders.

"Death or Glory" : Originally the motto of the 17th Lancers, and now the motto of its decendent regiment, The Queens Royal Lancers (cap badge shown below) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/44/17th_Lancers_badge.jpg

Both Regiments were/are "donkey wallopers" ;)

Per Mare, Per Terram (By Sea, By Land) Motto of the Royal Marines

Utrinque Paratus (Ready for Anything) The Parachute Regiment

Ich Dien (I Serve) The Royal Welch Fusiliers

As this is an old thread i had to read all of it to see if some of my favorite and often used rambles or quotes were mentioned. Not mottos but Team sergeant pearls.
here are a few that weren't!

If your gonna do something stupid don't do it around me!

Harder than a bag of reinforced woodpecker lips!

Its gonna be darker than six foot up a whales ass!

Its gonna be tighter than a gnats ass stretched across a rain barrel !

Pain is fear leaving the body!

Not concerned with the round with my name on it but the one labled to whom it may concern now spead the f*** out.

Failing is easy, quiting is hard, Failing to quit is hardest!

Have joking half serious but priceless response from a student when asked if he wanted to quit.
Do you want to Quit?
No seargeant i want to start over it was easier at the beginning!

While visiting with a severely wounded SF Operator at Walter Reed, he asked if I could help in getting things expedited in returning him to his team. Citing his present condition to him I asked why he would want to return. His reply was (is) a gem.
"Sir, it is far better to die FOR something than it is to die OF something."

Semper Gumby - Always Flexible

Motto and most repeated saying during my last USO tour with Cheerleaders in tow. It had multiple meanings. ;)

Today is the 50th Anniversary of John F Kennedy's Inauguration.
Here is the begining of his speech. (Scroll down a bit for the recording)

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and the success of liberty.

This much we pledge -- and more.

Several years ago, the Monterey Coast Guard Station had a commander named McEnerny. His daughter married a young Coast Guard LT and at the reception the young lady's mother presented a cake with the Coast Guard seal on it. The only problem was that the Motto under the seal said "Semper Fidelies" instead of the Coast Guard Motto of "Seper Paratus".

The Admiral of the Navy Post Graduate School and the Coast Guard Admiral from San Francisco along with several Army and Marine Corps Generals were also present.

The event was held at the Barbra McNitt Ballroom of the Navy Post Graduate School so the Commandant of the school took it upon himself to advise the Mother of her error.

The Mother turned to the Admirals and Generals and said, " I would like for my Son-in-Law to be always fathful rather than always ready!"

As heard in the SFQC: 1st Principle of SF: Always look cool.

1st operational technique: Admit nothing, deny everything, make counter-accusations.

SFAS: Sore Feet And Shoulders

Superior firepower is the best combat medicine; finish the fight.

Who remembers Sergeant Radd, (Radical)?

1st rule: Look cool
2nd rule: Always know where you are, (any Rangers out there????)
3rd rule: If you fail to know where you are, continue to look cool.

I'm thinking of Balaban in the Balkans wearing Gargoyles sun galsses, I think he actually scared old women and small children.

....

That was taught by some 18series reclassing as 18Ds when I heard it.

A SFC Radd was my Team Sergeant briefly, not sure if it's the same guy but sure sounds like it.

Radd had "Hollywood good looks" and was from a very wealthy "silver spoon" family, but you would never know it. Radd only wanted to be SF, agreed?

As fo the 18D Cadre / 300F1 students dating female Air Force Officer Nurse types, it would only hurt the Regiment, or so they say.

Rumor has it, no female nurse complained.

Ne futuis nobiscum.... Do not F... with us. Always liked that one, and can not remember who it came from.

Quand meme...Anyway,,,but with a shrug of the shoulder. Close to "qui s'en soucie?" (Who cares?), but easier to say, or remember! Got that from Bill Brooks, formerly of the 82nd, then the Foreign Legion, and later writing for Soldier of Fortune magazine.

and..."Where does the white go when snow melts?" No purpose, other than for grins. I use it when on the phone with anyone selling or in customer service. When they ask that open ended question "Is there anything else we can help you with today?" I hit them with it, and remind them that in training they were likely told NEVER to ask open ended questions. They laugh and say they will use it as well. Stupid, yeah. My wife's eyes are going to get permanent scratches from constantly rolling them when I rattle off the snow line.
Well, childish is fun. If we were "normal", would we have been in Group? Nah, out of the Army within 2 years with plenty of Art 15s. Cigarette butt details are for regular Army types!

Bit of a bump.

"A soldier who looses his head on the battle field usually looses his head on the battle field... Catch my drift? Stay focoused out there." Cant remember where i heard it.

"Where not tools of the government or anyone else fighting was the only thing i was good at but atleast i always fought for what i believed in..." Well this came from a video game but hey its a good one and i dont play them often 😋

I recommend you stop posting for a while and focus on reading.

Then spelling, punctuation, and grammar. First impressions are lasting ones.

And we don't really care about your games.

Spottedmedic111, Some things never die! Here's the 1-83 class flag, used for our afternoon runs around the parade ground. SF patch from me, Ranger scroll from Kevin "Doghead" Lannon (RIP) and bra/panties from my 71G girlfriend (during 300 F-1.)

Not me Brush, but we had all manner of sickos in our class. San Antonio is a fun town and led to the academic downfall of many future medics.
