View Full Version : Brother "Tim Kennedy" fighting on Showtime tonight.
Tim Kennedy former 7th Grouper fights tonight on Showtime. It is a free weekend for showtime also, so everyone should be able to watch and cheer our SF brother on!!!!
2nd bout is on right now. I'm not sure which one Tim is fighting in.
Looks like Tim is in the next fight according to the fight card.
Great job! Tim won! :lifter
It was a good fight and Smith held his own for a little while. I thought it was going to be Kennedy by a unanimous decision at the end, but he was quick to find that opening and finish it with the guillotine.

OOPS! I should have read your ENTIRE response I see it's on the 6th. :)
There is a height advantage for Gracie for sure. At 6ft 4in he's 5in taller than Tim. I wonder what the reach difference is.

GREG JACKSON: FIGHTER PAY COMMENTS, APOLOGY WON’T DISTRACT TIM KENNEDY
In a GrappleTalk podcast, Kennedy criticized the UFC’s compensation of fighters and suggested he could make more money emptying trashcans than fighting for the promotion. However, just days later, he apologized and UFC President Dana White has since fired back, asking, according to MMAMania.com, “… who gives a s--t about Tim Kennedy?”
Dana White fires back after Tim apologizes. What a douche bag. I would tell Dana White there are a lot of us who care about Tim and for the right reasons. Who gives a shit about Dana White? Anyone..Anyone? Didn't think so.

Not sure what you said, but sorry if it was confusing that I put this in your January thread.
I'm a rank amateur fan. If I look at the stats, I don't really come to any conclusions about outcome. Yes, Gracie is much taller, but his one loss by KO came from a shorter guy Kennedy's height.
They fight completely different. If you look at the attached data on each fighter, Kennedy has won off of balanced approach of submissions, takedowns and striking. Gracie has won with 71% submissions and is known for his ground game.
You can't count out Kennedy's strength and heart. (Of course, I'm sure Gracie's fans say the same thing.) Maybe Dusty can school me on what to expect....;)
Yes, Dennis, I saw Tim's apology about the "money drama" over on FB and thought it was well-written, sincere and thorough. I've been following his prep and he seems very committed/dedicated.
Edit to add: credit for those 2 graphics...they came from www.sherdog.com.

That guy Dana White has a big mouth (hardly the last time he's said something like this...). MMA promotion is probably the only arena unprofessional enough to retain him in a public capacity.

Saw the fight live. I got a little scared when Kennedy almost got his back taken, but I guess it wasn't that big of a deal to him. He outstruck Gracie hard in the clinch, something like 122-16? It was as near a complete victory as you could get without a KO.
I did find it funny that this is one of the fights where Kennedy is trying hard to stay off the ground. The Gracie reputation remains as solid as ever.
