Christmas - December 1944

Just thinking of how my Uncle Leonard (TSgt, 120th Inf Rgt, 30th Ind Div) and many other Americans spent their holiday season in 1944.

The pics are of the card he sent my Grandma that year and him as a Platoon Sergeant taken at Malmedy after they'd freed the village during the Battle of the Bulge.

The impact of Americans like my Uncle Leonard and millions of others has been felt in Europe for many decades now.

From the looks of his uniform, there must not have been Sergeants Major back then! :D

Oh, that's right... they were more concerned with killing the enemy back then. (Though Patton could be a stickler...but not when the troops were actually doing the killilng...just later.)
