The USPS has wasted more tax payers money appealing their evidently illegal actions in firing this Soldier. Jackasses.

LHC, thanks for posting that. And the amount isn't even a pimple on what their quarterly interest payment is (which they regularly default on). Another failure to do the right thing.

If ever a commodity needed another excuse to be kicked from the Fed curb...
In this case both physically & literally.

The USPS is not a taxpayer funded branch of government.

That being said, though, that's 2 million bucks that they could have used to reduce our postage ;)

Not exactly correct. It receives about $100 Million a year in subsidies from the taxpayer.

Additionally, this union-run-quasi-governmental monopoly has been in a death spiral for 20 years. They lobby to keep unnecessary small offices and Saturday mail delivery at their peril.

With all the other more efficient forms of communication, I think they should keep delivering on Saturday and stop Monday through Friday. Who needs snail mail more than once per week? :D

Source?

Or are you referring to this? The USPS has not directly received taxpayer-dollars since the early 1980s with the minor exception of subsidies for costs associated with the disabled and overseas voters

My brother worked for USPS for years, he doesn't have much good to say. There policies and practices towards their works suck.
