It's great to see so many deals being offered to our Vertrans.

I've got to be honest. I have never gone to one of these "free" giveaways for veterans. My way of thanking these businesses for their support is by NOT showing up, and thereby helping their bottom line.

Speaking of "bottom lines" - another reason I don't go is that I see waaaay TOO many of my brother veterans who really neet to step away from the buffet line!

I prefer a heartfelt thank you and a handshake. But that's just me.

Or, maybe, a laurel and hardy handshake! :D

I tried to go out last year and we couldn't get within 100ft of the entrance to any restaraunt offering a deal. The sight of an entire post worth of soldiers scrambling to get a free meal kind of left a bad impression on me and I don't intend to participate this year.

Besides, when someones thanks me for serving I really want to thank them for paying taxes, but I think it would come out sounding like a joke so I keep it to myself.

I can't personally take advantage of any of those offers, but the post itself is appreciated.
