View Full Version : Bush's Tax cuts
Well, I guess it's time for the Republicans to drop opposition to the expiration of Bush's Tax Cut for the "evil rich" - all of it.
No modification - let the whole bill expire.
The EITC will go with it.
No No NO I do not want more taxes for me NONONONONONO
Oh I am sorry I am not rich at least in my point of view......... but I sure pay a lot.....

The EITC will go with it.
The reduction of the EITC, the Child Tax Credit, and elimination of the American Opportunity Tax Credit makes this a lower class / middle class issue...and this is just a few of the changes coming. Did you know that 90,000,000 qualify for the EITC? Our population in 2011 was right at 312,000,000. So, nearly 30% of all Americans will be affected by the "fiscal cliff" right off the bat via reduction of the EITC.
The illusion that this is a tax increase on the rich only will disappear as soon as my EITC clients realize their refund will be much smaller than before.
This tax season and next are gonna be a lot of fun.

I agree Pete. The Bush tax cuts affect all taxpayers. Let the Dems own the results.

There will be a "teachable moment" in here somewhere.
Edited to add: It will come initially when I explain to #2 son who's working himself through college and being a great single Dad at the same time. He'll then be in a position to explain to some of his HS cronies how bloody f'n stupid they are.

Indeed.
Here is the CBO's take on what will happen if we just let all the tax cuts expire (they say it will be painful, but a good thing fiscally) or if we don't let them expire (they say we will be Greece in +/- 10 years or so...)
