Thoughts out to everyone in the path of the storm, especially these gents.

Soldiers of the 3rd Inf Reg. continue to stand guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, despite the worsening weather conditions surrounding Hurricane Sandy. The tomb has been guarded continuously since 1948.

Taken this morning.

Amazing photo too. You can see the rain coming down at an angle...almost completely perpendicular to their rifles...and they are "locked up."

Love that we still have, Duty, Honor, and Country as a way of life.

My heart is out to those Men who guard and hold sacred something worth more than most of us civilians deserve to even see.

Gives hope, IMHO, for Our Country.

God Bless America, and God Bless Our Soldiers.

Well, I've been hoodwinked.

Apparently this photo that I posted above was taken sometime this past September. It went "viral" as it being taken today, but was quickly debunked by members of the 3rd Infantry Regiment. "The Old Guard".

Apologies to all for miss-leading you and for falling into the viral trap as well.

Here is the link along with the REAL photo, of one of the guards from this morning.

Looking at your first post, I was going to say that its just not that bad yet even though the weird direction of the rain has caused a leak in our roof due to old caulking between the addition and the original house. We still have electricity although the winds are picking up and it will probably go out at any time.

We have fire wood in the shed and we have camp stoves and lanterns. With about six cans of chili and a weeks worth of chicken noodle soup, we are probably going to survive. :D

Stay safe Bob... Power still hanging on.. Half the neighborhood went out, but unlike the derecho, our side of the street stayed on this time. How long is anyone's guess.

Sdiver...WTOP had that same original picture then updated it with the one showing the single soldier walking....
