Would anyone be able to recommend glow in the dark marking tape for use on night trail runs and on ultra marathons?

Have had a terrible time finding anything well worth investing in thus far.

Brady has a reputation of making good industrial labels, so this product might work for you.

Glow in the Dark or Reflective?

Are the runners running with head lights? If so I would think reflective tape would be better.

The USFS uses a reflective thumb tack to mark trails for seismic sensor and camera placements. They are hardly visible during daylight and show well when light is reflected on them at night, they make for nice trail markings,if using a light.

Are you in a place where you can affix them permanently, or do you need to be able to remove them every day?

I use just regular trail marking tape on my trails, but I know them well enough that getting lost at night is not an issue. I wonder how much the price would be for some of those driveway-markers on a stick? Would work pretty well with headlights, and would be pretty durable.

We tried that this year and it was an epic failure using reflective tape..visibility was pretty bad once the mist set in after 4am and you could barely see beyond 2 meters-3 meters.

Yes, the runners are using headlamps but I wonder if glow in the dark would work better than maybe better quality reflective tape, maybe?

We use village trails and jungle routes...the driveway markers might be an option possibly

Never knew they had those thumb tack type reflective markers..they sound easy to carry and place but the issue always is runners sometimes don't look when headlamps are on and expect the markers to be visible smack dead in front of them..

That's what I was going to suggest. If the runners are using headlamps their night vision may not be great and cyalume would work better than either reflective or glow in the dark material.

I recommend Glow-On (http://glow-on.com/) products. I have both paint and sticker and they work perfect. You can put paint on thumb tacks or cut sticer numbers/arrows.

If reflective didn't work due to visibility glow in the dark will be worthless. Reflective will put off more light than glow in the dark any day if you can get the illumination to it and if you can't that means the reflective tape illumination inst going to get to you either.
