I'm no fan of hitting women (in fact, I despise it), but common sense dictates you had better watch what you ask for, because you just might get it.
Running your mouth and picking a fight tells me that you are comfortable with getting your ass kicked, because you never know who it is you are picking on and no plan survives initial contact.
I'll take the bus driver's side on this one. "I don't care. She wanna be a man, I'ma treat you like a man." Classic. :D

That was by far my favourite line.:D:D
IIRC, in other analysis of the film, the uhmmmmm - young "lady" steps into the driver and slaps him and spits on him. THAT'S when he gets out of his seat and does his impression of Ralph Cramden with his dream of sending Gladys to the moon.
Well done. It is sad in this day and age however that I said a silent note of thanks that the driver was black. If this guy was white, we'd have riots in the streets.

One comment: "I didn't know Ike Turner was a bus driver." :D

I'll play devils advocate... What if she was white?
I agree, and it is a sad day when I too was happy this was a "black on black" altercation to keep all the race bating out of it.
SBG sends.

Wow, not even funny.
I agree to some extent about if you are going to run your mouth, you deserve what you get. But I have to wonder if you all would think it was so funny if your daughter or your wife was standing over your shoulder while you typed your smiley faces.
It could be a great learning point on how not to act, why not to take drugs etc. But a serial wife beater doesn't deserve a smiley, and I would think men of your caliber would think something like this was anything but funny. Sad commentary on society, yes. Funny ha ha, no.

For the record, my smiley was for the fact that someone would even remember Ike Turner. And my wife did see video and thought the driver did what was necessary.
The girl physically attacked the driver while the bus was in motion. Change the vehicle to an airliner. Now what do you think?
Bus drivers often see the same faces day-after-day. They may have had encounters in the past. And, as PRB said, she took a punch that would have dropped most of us. The driver has possibly had similar run-ins with drugged-up passengers and knew what it would take. In her case...it didn't work.

I call BS. You were the first person to mention Ike.
If this thread were anyplace other than the comedy zone, I might buy what you are selling. The fact it is where it is disappoints me.

The original commenter was under the video. I quoted him (or her).

Life - yes; sad - yes; funny - not.

AFCHIC - concur on your take. I took the smily to refer to the Ike comment. Ike was a serial misogynist who should be beaten every day for the rest of his life (is he even still alive..???).
BUT....I DID think the comment about Ralph Cramden was funny or I wouldn't have said it. It goes more to the initial probing of entertainment's current stance that woman are the brains and men are ignorant savages who can't think or even perform without harming themselves unless they have a woman in control of every facet of their life. Look to all the current sitcoms. I disagree with the current projection but I did think the initial probing was presecient. Ralph was over-matched by Alice and often his only retort when backed into the corner was feigned impotent rage (one of these days Alice....ONE OF THESE DAYS...). However, it always ended with her just looking at him and the two of them metling into each others arms and proclaiming their undying love for each other. Man....were life so simple today.
Life - yes; sad - yes; funny - not.

Agree Sir Richard, 100%.
I call a spade a spade, and this bus incident is very unfortunate to hear about, all the way around, IMHO.:(
Being a woman who was involoved with domestic violence at one point in my life, I can see the relevance to want to attack the bringing up of Ike Turner.
But IMVHO, it was not the intent of the poster to mock abused women in bringing that analogy to the discussion. It is a very well documented fact that Ike hit Tina, and for all the wrong reasons, she took it.
My hope is that instead, as suggested, let us all learn what drugs can do to the mental and emotional state of those less fortunate than us, and try to help them...that would be a good outcome from the posting of this thread, IMHO.
