I'm wondering where people stand in this race. Perpetual politician who's overstayed his self-imposed stay in D.C. by several years vs a decorated former SF medic / Surgeon General. (Do I give myself away?)

Easy vote. Plus I like Dr Carmona. Chatted with him for quite a while when he came up to Flag for July 4th parade. Back then he was still kind of on the fence about running.

He'll be back up here next weekend. I'll see if he has changed much.

Plus I owe him a beer. He coin checked me and.....

I don't like this: Clinton in Tempe Wednesday to campaign for Carmona (http://azstarnet.com/news/local/clinton-in-tempe-wed-to-stump-for-carmona/article_d8c5e02a-dd24-59ae-9bfb-b50f98a6a632.html)

It would be hard for me to help put another D in the Senate.

While I don't really want another D in the Senate, I also do not like Jeff Flake... at all! I actively worked on the campaign of a challenger in the 2004 Republican primary. Flake ran a very negative campaign, misrepresenting the position of his opponent (my candidate) in regard to 'securing the border' - even though he'd known the man for decades, and knew his position wasn't 'anti-immigrant'.

I don't believe Carmona will be a slamdunk Obama supporter - if Obama is re-elected, or an automatic opponent of Romney, if he wins.

Besides, my main political strategy these days is: if they're IN, vote 'em OUT. Two or three election cycles of this just might change things. Nothing else seems to do it.

We'll see...

Flake.....liking Carmona has nothing to do with it...he'd a liberal Dem, will vote for and with Pelosi on issues and that means he supports a form of socialism.

Concur.

There are quite a few "likeable" Dims, that doesn't mean they won't toe the party line when it comes down to it and the pressure is on.

That is what happened on health care legislation. One or two more Senators in opposition would have changed the outcome. I don't think we can afford the risk of putting another Dim in office, regardless of his history and likeability.

Just my .02, YMMV.

SIMPLE!!
Now your choice is really easy: hire a Senator who's good for the neighborhood
or
pick the one who's good for the Republican National Party.

Or just pick the one with the cool hat. Hey! It worked for our wives and girlfriends.:D

...or
pick the one who's good for the Republican National Party.......

These days regardless of how a candidate runs his/her campaign in the district - the question does boil down to which party they belong to.

If you don't toe the party leadership line you find yourself locked out of help when it comes time for your reelection campaign.

So yeah - party does mater.

President? Think Supreme Court. Senators? Think Supreme Court. House? Think spending.

There are no Snows in the Democrat Party. Well, there are a lots of them but I mean "Thorn in the side of your Party" kind of folks.

I've also got to vote for McSally even though she is PNG with AF pilots (especially A-10 drivers).

I agree. Anyone that would stand with pelosi, harry reid etc will never get my vote, Special Forces qualified or not.

Socialism does not work and Europe is proving that "theory" as we speak.

How to Lose a Winnable U.S. Senate Race (http://swampland.time.com/2012/10/19/how-to-lose-a-winnable-u-s-senate-race/)

Richard Carmona, the Democratic candidate for the Arizona senate seat being vacated by Jon Kyl, is a former U.S. surgeon general and decorated military veteran. A Hispanic American, he overcame childhood homelessness and has deep roots in the Tucson area, where he served as a deputy sheriff for more than two decades. Barack Obama himself called Carmona to urge him to run, knowing the Spanish-speaking doctor is the kind of blue-chip candidate capable of wresting away a Senate seat in a red state. And Carmona seems poised to do just that. The past two polls in Arizona have shown Carmona edging ahead of U.S. Representative Jeff Flake, the Republican nominee, and Democratic forces have begun pouring cash into the state in hopes of snatching an upset victory.

But with one stupid quip, Carmona may have badly damaged his chances. During a testy exchange in a Thursday night debate, moderator Brahm Resnik quipped, “Now I know how Candy Crowley felt,” he said. To which Carmona replied: “You’re prettier than her,” and patted the moderator’s hand.

“Not sure how to take that,” Resnik said. Nor should women in Arizona. Here’s the video of the exchange:

He must have been in coached by the VP before the debate :)

Never met the guy but Carmona looks like a dyed in the wool Lib that would back Harry Reid on anything he came up with.
Based on his comments and record.
Vote for Carmona because he is SF, might as well vote for Obama too.....same deal.
Folks change, not always for the better. MHO.

There are no Snowes in the Democrat Party. Well, there are a lots of them but I mean "Thorn in the side of your Party" kind of folks. Before one even gets to the next primary, a petulant party upstart can be frozen out on patronage, pork, and, potentially, committee work.

(And while I have no dog in the AZ fight, I'd be more likely to cross party lines to vote for a Democrat running for the senate than one running for the house. While she's rightly reviled, Ms. Pelosi is vastly under estimated as a parliamentarian. If she gets the speakership back, don't count on Democrats reaching across the aisle.

ZD! Hey...hey...check out this photo of her. Go ahead, you can trust me.;) <<LINK (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Z297XaciT68/TdOyENS0Q4I/AAAAAAAAlew/Jd36w7IEXC4/s400/110518-young-nancy-pelosi.jpg)>>.

Shucks. I forgot the pink. Sorry about that.
