Sometimes Fall fishing in the Carolinas is fantastic. Caught this guy today on a 4" Mullet, 3 miles offshore. Dinner should be great. :D

It would be great stuffed with crab or shrimp and grilled!
That is one nice fish.. I believe that is a Fluke not a Flounder. The Flounder and Fluke fishing has been amazing this past year!

We don't have fluke in South Carolina of which I am aware. I could be wrong, I've only been fishing here for 15 years and am a licensed charter captain. :cool:

Here's how to tell the difference between Flounders and Flukes ....
Generally speaking, left-side up flounder are flukes, and right-side up flounders are called flounders. That sounds easy enough to remember, but it gets worse. Flukes are also called “summer flounder,” and flounder, or right-side fish, are called “winter flounder.”
It also turns out that, of the 500 plus flatfish species, there are five species that are all called flounder. It’s good to know that there is a difference, but I would be hard pressed to taste the difference between a fluke or a flounder.
Four of the five flounder species are found in the Atlantic: summer flounder (left-side up flukes), winter flounder, southern flounder and European flounder. The fifth, the Japanese flounder, is found in the Pacific Ocean.

Flounder also lack teeth and have a much smaller mouth. I obtained my 100 ton last year but didn't get to run many trips. I was mostly confined to the deck :boohoo.. What kinda charters do you run?

Maybe the east coast flounder lack teeth, but Texas gulf coast flounder have a mouth full of sharp teeth.

Any of you guys try jigging for fluke with gulp? I was having a blast this year with that.

The only fluke was that I caught it.

I have had very good results jigging for flounder with gulp, especially during the fall run.
