Thought about Comedy Zone but consideration for the feelings of others (who might live there) prevailed.

"OK, look up here, with your best dead-pan..."

New Jersey motorists have another reason to frown about their driver's license photos.

The state has banned motorists from making big smiles because such expressions don't work with facial recognition software.

So what happens if your DL looks like Glen Campbell's mugshot but you walk around happy all the time? There must be some happy people in NJ otherwise this wouldn't be an issue. (OK, so it's Friday.)
:D

Same is in effect in Virginia. For some reason:rolleyes:, LEO's don't see many smiles when they ask for your DL's.

It wasn't easy for me to be happy up there with the 2ND amendment virtually non existent. NC has been a huge culture shock for me.

RF 1I imagine they don't. Putting aside the "expected reaction to LE" theory for a moment (which I don't buy) if true that facial recognition software doesn't like smiling, what else doesn't it like? Hmm. This is interesting.

ETA: This is the official sample image for the new DL here with embedded ghost images, etc. We must not have alot of cameras up here yet.
