Much debate about here or the HUMOR forum...but I stuck it here for now...

Nothing new and IMO not news worthy. Had one here on Bragg years ago in the 20th Engineers shooting himself with a CROSSBOW!
This should be in the Humor section. She is USAF probaly a paper pusher and she was afraid of a deployment. Se probably was going to a hotel and they would make her share a room and not give her max perdiem. Rough life ...... Put her in an infantry FOB for a year tour to handle their logistics after she is healed up.

I still think the most telling statement I have ever heard by some of htese dimwits was, "I didn't join the military to deploy, I joined for the free education", whatever fool. :munchin

I had one of these guys show up at Blanchfield (BACH) on Ft Campbell when I was doing my clinical rotation in the 18D course in 2000. He had ended up in a scout platoon in the 187th Rakka-hooahs and I guess he didn't like it very much. We did an eval on him, had the on-call psych come in, discharged him under supervision, and he deployed.
Shouldn't have signed on that dotted line.
Hell, I didn't want to do my last deployment because it was going to cut into my ACAP time...but where was I? Estaba hablando Espanol en Peru!
I remember the two barracks full of self-inflicted injuries to get out of RVN in the Med Hold Company at FSH awaiting UCMJ action.
I may have mellowed over the years, but I've adopted a philosophy along the lines of better to send 'em home with an OTH discharge and make them repay any bonus received than force them into a situation where their woe is me attitude might jeopardize the mission and cost a good soldier their life.

I agree w Richard. Don't need them screwing things up or being a burden to a unit.
Scratch that Richard. That should be a dishonorable discharge, not OTH.

I agree, no combat, but the grease traps, latrines, litter control, and any other shit detail is just crying out for their names. CAn't handle that then a bit of stockade time and a DHD works for me as well.

You watch nothing will happen if these guys. They PTSD, EO command hardship for domestic violence lead her (him) to do it. Nowadays things like this or look that different I believe, I feel, you watch if there was a follow up by the Houston paper it would be the commanders fault. The military pushing people to harder something on that lines.

PPTSD - pre post traumatic stress disorder. That's when you stress out just thinking about deploying.

the way I see your post isn't along the lines of mellowing, rather along those of common sense. Why risking lives of committed people by placing those boneheads besides them? Better off to weed them numbnuts out with an OTH or even better D discharge and make them spit back each and every penny they scrounged in terms of benefits and free stuff.

Seems like a clear cut case of malingering. Straight to court martial, reduce in grade to E-1, a few years making big rocks into little rocks, and a DHD. Don't want attitudes like that infecting the force downrange.
How about some good ol' flogging and a cup of splinters underneath her toenails?
Come on, UCMJ happens to exist for a reason. No need to go nazi, you've got a whole set of rules to take care of boneheads of thhat sort.
