Racial Justice hearings set for three convicted of killings in Fayetteville area

http://fayobserver.com/articles/2012/09/01/1201135?sac=fo.local

"Hearings are scheduled for October to determine whether three people convicted of killings in the Fayetteville area can be taken off death row under the Racial Justice Act.

On Friday, Cumberland County Senior Resident Superior Court Judge Greg Weeks denied prosecutors' requests to delay the hearings, which will begin Oct. 1. The hearings may be the first in the state since the legislature revised the 2009 law this summer.

The cases involve some of the area's most notorious murders.

Tilmon Golphin killed a state trooper and a sheriff's deputy during a traffic stop on Interstate 95 in 1997. Quintel Augustine murdered a police officer in 2001, and Christina S. "Queen" Walters killed two women in a gang-initiation ritual in 1998........."

If you were around back then you know they were "Notorious".

1997????? 19998??????? 2001???????

That's the big problem with the death penalty - JUST DO IT!!!!!!!

The problem with these cases, IMHO, is that they were very "high profile" as I remember the incidents, and I was in Fayetteville during all of them, the general populace was screaming for the death penalty.
