Watch your mouth -- everyday phrases like "hold down the fort" and "rule of thumb" are potentially offensive bombshells.

At least according to the State Department.

"...........For instance, Robinson warned, "hold down the fort" is a potentially insulting reference to American Indian stereotypes................"

Hmmm, insulting reference? American Indian? The dude should read his own message.

Anyway - I'd think "Hold the fort" is more an acknowledgement that if you don't keep your eyes wide open a bunch of them individuals are going to come pouring over the stockade and kick your ass.

Hardly an insult......

"Chief Diversity Officer John Robinson penned a column in the department's latest edition of "State Magazine" advising readers on some rather obscure Ps and Qs."

Chief Diversity Officer...then there's the Deputy Chief and Assistant Deputy, etc., etc.,...what BS.

The PC police are here.

Better not be "fighting mad" about this BS...some folks might cry.

ETA: MOO, some of the types residing in this type of office generally - and the PC police specifically - remind me of the notion of a political commissar.

This is a pretty eclectic bunch; target-rich environment.

Also, God forbid if you call some female a squaw. I never realized until recently that in the old days it was basically the same as calling a women a c*nt.

How sad... the "home of the brave" is becoming the refuge of the PC weaklings.

No worries. IMO the PC crowd is like jock itch - irritating - but very treatable and soon you're ignoring that shit and gettin' the job done.

DOS has always worried about things like this. Some things never change amongst the 'striped pants' crowd.

Laugh now but with the overseas contingency operations winding down the military worms that pushed COOP etc... will rise to the top again.
