Obama-Aurora Billboard Everyone's Talking About
AtlanticWire, 29 Jul 2012

This billboard got a lot of media attention this weekend for its meme-style juxtaposition of President Obama and Aurora-shooter James Holmes. Styled like something you'd see on Reddit, the billboard features side-by-side pictures of the two men with the words "kills 12 in movie theater with assault rifle, everyone freaks out" over Holmes' picture, and "kills thousands with his foreign policy, wins nobel peace prize" over Obama's picture. Maurice Clements is the guy in charge the billboard. He's part of a group who honor the memory of Libertarian Ralph Smeed. He says the group is angry over Obama not bringing the troops home. "We’re all outraged over that killing in Aurora, Colo., but we’re not outraged over the boys killed in Afghanistan," Clements said. Locals think the billboard is "pathetic," and "abhorrant."

Maurice Clements must have taken classes from:

You never want a serious crisis to go to waste," Rahm Emanuel

And so it goes...

Richard "kills 12 in movie theater with assault rifle, everyone freaks out" over Holmes' picture, and "kills thousands with his foreign policy, wins nobel peace prize" over Obama's picture. [COLOR="Orange"]Maurice Clements is the guy in charge the billboard. Typical over-the-top, stupid, bullshit, "let's make something of this that fits his agenda" message.
Makes no sense but it's LOUD and big. And it's his opinion.

As for me, Aurora is over. I had my Holy-Crap!-this-is-Terrible moment. (And my I-sometimes-go-to-midnight-openings, that-might-have-been-me-and-mine-moment.) I did the Colors at half-mast. I saw Batman and thought about what would happen if some dope went near the emergency exit. I'm glad there is a suspect in custody and there appears to be a good case against him.
I'll wait for the outcome.

I don't give a bean about his background, his hair color, his education, his mommy or the opinion of the people who remember him.
I also don't give a bean about the back story of the victims. I neither want nor need to know about them. Nor, do I want or need to know about the suffering of the family or friends. It's a tragedy. I'm sorry it happened, I'm sorry when people suffer. But I don't want to be "entertained" by it. This is my hope. I hope justice is served, I hope the victims find rest, healing or comfort. I hope they get over it and make a better life. I hope those directly effected don't let this define the future.
As for me, It's over.
