I had played around in there a while back - nice site.

Only problem after you download a map is finding someplace to print it to scale without charging you an arm and two legs.

If the USGS prints it and has it in stock it's not a bad deal to simply order a few and pay shipping.

I downloaded a mapping ap to my phone that runs USGS 1:24,000 with a GPS function - but it eats into battery life something awful.

I love maps. Of all the things I learned in SF- Land navigation is the one I still use the most.

I like that, instead of paging thru results, one can just dump the search results to a .csv file, review, and narrow the beam from there. Clearly a true map junkie had some input to this.

I have order maps from USGS that were done by the AMS (Army Mapping Service) which was gone by even by the time I entered active duty.
