I'm curious to know if this guy is a QP, and did serve with the 10th Group. http://www.novusinc.us/#!page-5

Don't want to cast aspersions, and I seem to have no other area in which to post the inquiry.

Please move / delete as appropriate, and I'd prefer PM for those who wish to know the reason for the inquiry.

TIA

His Bio does not state he was a Green Beret - Just that his service was in the 10th.

You have any claims that he made?

you hit on the reason for my curiosity. Someone who has been in the Army a while, usually has more than one duty assignment. OTOH, if you were a signal or supply guy, but wanted to give the impression to those not familiar with the Army that you were possibly more experienced in a certain MOS than you really were .... without being untruthful, this would be the way to go about it.

Being an ex Armor guy, my assignment history is with armor units, and armor related assignments. If it came out that I was an ordnance guy assigned to the contact team of a tank battalion, I would lose points off my "badass" index.

With a claim of "Following a military career with the U.S. Army, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), he became " that would imply to someone that he was more than just passing through 10th Group.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but this has now shown up:

http://www.heraldtribune.com/article/20120923/ARTICLE/120929866/-1/sports?Title=Nationally-and-locally-civilian-militias-have-a-new-look&tc=ar

"Wilburn, 45, is a former Army Special Forces sergeant and decorated combat veteran who is the group's lead trainer. He works as a private detective."

“I hope we get infiltrated by the FBI,” said Wilburn, a former Green Beret. “They'll learn we've got nothing to hide.”

Real Deal or not?

Wilburn enlisted in 1985, but ignored his grandfather's advice by volunteering for airborne training and U.S. Special Forces. The trials he faced as a child helped him survive the arduous training needed to earn the coveted green beret.

Wilburn excelled in Special Forces, which has been described as an army within the Army.

Wilburn organized Charter Oaks like a Special Forces “A-Team.”

Each member has a specialty, a skill such as communications, first aid or weapons training, and they share skills with other members.

The members keep in contact with one another, and with seven other militia groups throughout the Southeast through a secure website that features announcements, forums, multimedia and a blog. While the site is closed to the general public, it is open to anyone who emails a request to Wilburn.

I know where this range is. My Father-in-law (Ret LTC) goes shooting there sometimes. I was just down the road (5 miles) from this place this weekend with my F-I-L shooting IDPA.

I'll be on call for this one.
