Those were easy
I remember all but the stamp/coupon hicky-doo's. As a younger lad (I'm only 30 now) while trying to dial in air waves via foil cloaked antennae, I had a radio that had a dead battery (I mixed batteries). I figured if the foil could attract power, I'd try some crumbled up foil for a battery. I got a few extra hours of cassette play out of it :D

Looks like a bright-dimmer switch to me. Not sure on the stamps.
Right out of my childhood, still have some of that stuff. OK, nap time. :p

The S&H Green Stamps got me my first camera; Blue Chip stamps got given away at the grocery stores & gas stations too back in the day, but S&H had it cornered because they had alot more in-the-area actual places where you could redeem them.
Flip up the lid and put in a flashbulb; great camera. Then I had to haul the wagon full of pop bottles up to the deli to redeem those to pay for the developing. (This is pre-Polaroid shit folks.)
The Etch-a-Sketch amused me all the way from CA to Tejas & back each summer when I got tired of lookin' for Volkswagens to count or reading Stuckey's billboards...
We didn't do the freezer-pop thing 'cause popsicles were 2 cents and we had an ice-cream truck drivin' around the AO twice a day.
This is in the Comedy Zone because....?

Agreed. The dimmer switch on my MGB would sometimes go from high beam to off. Try fixing that at night:lifter.

It should be a dimmer switch. The floor starter button was on the right side so you could heel the gas pedal and push the starter with your toe.

I had a tape player in my '67 'Stang that pre-dated 8 track. I don't remember what it was called, though.

Al - My parents had teh big a**ed Rambler Ambassador with the push button. I could get rubber witht the sucker, it was the basis for the Marlin fast back.
As far as the center piece, I had the big center post to put over the skinny one didn't need those suckers.
the tube tester I have not seen in years but my Dad woudl take them down to the store to find which was bad to fix the TV. :D

That would be a 4-Track. I had one in my '67 Cougar...got it installed at "Mad Man Muntz"!
Replaced it with a state of the art 8 track in '69!
Okay, old farts...who remembers this: (it made having to accompany my sisters and mom on their endless shoe-buying spree somewhat enjoyable)

Buster Brown X-ray. I worked in a shoe store, in High School, that had one. It was deactivated, but I did my best to re-activate it. :D It was going to be my Science Fair project. ;)

Ahhh! A laser disc and a laser disc player! For my money, it provided the most outstanding picture yet, and the best was made by Pioneer. Got mine in ealry '83 in Dallas. You had to turn the disc over by hand halfway through - great for bathroom breaks.
Mine still works and resides with my younger daughter in the LA area, along with the discs she wanted. I pared down my possesions, but I visit it often.:D

Yes, the X-RAY machine for feet, in a large wood box, with shielded face ports -- mid Nineteen Fifties . [Edited Addition:] There it is (photo) on Comment No. 40 .

30 years ago? We had those on our E model Commando Solos until we switched to the J model. That was about 10 years ago.
Not that they worked. They were mounted at an angle overhead, totally against what the instructions said (mount on a level surface).

The first time I saw one in use was in 1983. Watched Apocolypse Now at a friends house. His dad had the thing wired through his stereo. The scene where the helos are inbound and Flight of the Valkryies is playing...made the chandelier shake in another room. Coolest thing I ever seen (at that time) and made me wonder how someone could have a movie theater in their house.

The 12AT7 was a common amplifier tube, as I recall .Good catch. Still in circulation big time, most commonly-used audio pre-amp tube around usually in a circuit with a 12AX7 or two. Quality ones are still appreciated in both mixing boards and tube-based transceivers, and any guitar player worth their mettle.
TV I grew up with was a Hoffman b&w with ~12" picture tube, tucked into a f'n 250-lb piece of cabinetry, and 2 big tube trays accessible from the back. Dad never did manage to spark himself; after static issues in early B-29's he was always careful about making sure that he wasn't the ground.
Then someone in the neighborhood got a color TV and the suburban arms race was on...

I took the aluminum foil a step farther as well. Okay two steps. The first was I would also tape a couple of large sheets (3-4) feet on the wall behind the t.v., in addition to the wrapping the antenna/s.
I was vested in the power of aluminum foil, and as a kid (12-13), I grabbed the aluminum foil from the kitchen, went in the back yard and stretched out about thirty or fourty feet in all kinds of directions, taped to the fence, awning, walls, etc. And the different ends of sheets I wrapped around standard electric wire (another 30 feet of wire), which I had stripped, and spliced this into the speaker wires in my "boom box," to which I then hit the record button, and stayed up all night outside, flipping the cassette, and waiting for the inevitable contact with E.T.s, which never came.:(

I taught my daughter to drive and told her to hold the steering wheel at "10 & 2" - had absolutely no idea what I was talking about.
How many remember rabbit ears + aluminum foil + wire hanger + the parent's TV remote (their kids) searching through all 4 channels...:D
That is why I had to wear BCG, Birth Control Glasses, because I sat close to the TV so this remote did not have to move as far. Downside, I sure was'nt the Ladies Man with those sexy BCGs'.:D

Either I need to make them harder, or L.R. just can't play anymore.
I think it might just have to be the latter, seeing that this was his knife that he used during the Swiss and Indian war(s). :D

Seems some Ragnar students of mine thought the same, claimed they found this on a stalk and wondered when I had lost it and was it against the French?
Oh yes, they claimed SS stood for "Special Spear". :D
