Acting Commissioner's Message: Death of Border Patrol Agent James R. Dominguez
(07/19/2012)
It is with deep sorrow that Chief Fisher and I inform you of the death of Border Patrol Agent James R. Dominguez on July 19, 2012. Agent Dominguez succumbed to injuries received when he was struck by a passing vehicle along Highway 90 near Cline, Texas. At the time of the accident, Agent Dominguez was on duty.
Agent Dominguez, age 41, entered on duty with the U.S. Border Patrol on May 7, 2000, as a member of the 434th session of the Border Patrol Academy. Upon graduating from the Academy, he was assigned to the Uvalde Station in the Del Rio Sector.
Agent Dominguez is survived by his wife, Victoria; three daughters, Sylvia, Jacquelin, and Isabella; his son, James Michael; as well as his brother, Lead Border Patrol Agent Carlos Dominguez Jr., and his father, retired Border Patrol Agent Carlos Dominguez.
The death of Agent Dominguez gravely illustrates the perils faced by our agents and officers as they serve our Nation and protect the American people. We must never forget those who make so great a sacrifice or those grieving their loss.
The wearing of mourning bands is authorized for uniformed personnel and all CBP flags should be flown at half-staff from now until Agent Dominguez’s interment. Information regarding funeral services will be published as soon as they are available.
On behalf of the entire U.S. Customs and Border Protection family, Chief Fisher and I offer our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Border Patrol Agent James R. Dominguez. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as we all mourn his passing.
