You'll know it's serious when the feed store runs short of ropes. Just sayin'...

Sounds like the president is rebooting former DNC head Howard Dean's strategy to put every state in play <<LINK (http://www.usnews.com/usnews/news/articles/060716/24dems.htm)>>.
To make sure the president's boast remains just that, it will be crucial that his opponents in Texas leave nothing to chance when it comes to getting out the vote.
And also...'memba this? <<LINK (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5FzCeV0ZFc&feature=related)>> with a <<REMIX (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBGR2I6pFYk)>>

The dogs and I just finished our nightly patrol--all's quiet on the Texan front.

Wow, I thought we weren't going to do that unless we're keepin' the old prez. Looks like I'll have to leave work a little early. Probably won't be a long battle.

He stopped here in "Military City, USA". Of course he stopped by to visit the Wounded Warr...wait , no, that was someone else.
Funny how the last time he was in San Antonio was when he was a candidate, asking for money. He got elected, and did nothing but slam the great state of Texas ever since. That was until he became a candidate again & needed money. The press said yesterday that the San Antonio visit was supposed to net $5 million. Between San Antonio & Austin, he raised 3.5.

Michelle O is encouraging the voting base to 'shake' people to vote
"He needs you to keep making those calls, doing that hard work. Knocking on those doors. Treacherous work, right? Tiring work. He needs you to keep registering those voters. You know, the ones, you know, that aren't registered and you gotta get 'em and shake 'em. Find them, get them registered," Michelle Obama said at the campaign event. source. The lack of respect provided by this nations current CIC to its military is deplorable.
Twas all quiet on the Northern front...
I saw plenty of muddy pickup trucks, oil rigs and cows this morning.
Not one Prius or any UN tanks parked on the border!
Could the increasing population of Hispanics (via illegals) eventually turn Texas into a battleground state?
Ah, nativism.
Ah, nativism.
I couldn't quite put my finger on it-been nagging at me for 4 or 5 years- your responses seemed so familiar...then it hit me.
You're Orpa Winfrey! :D
Entire post.Have you personally ever talked to Latinos about immigration reform and identity politics?

Nope, not nativism at all. Politics. Hispanics lean more in favor of Democrats than Republicans. This is because of a few reasons:
1) Republicans want to enforce the border, which a great many Hispanics, in particular ones who came here illegally, and also ones with relatives who are illegals, do not want
2) Democrats promise the Hispanics a bunch of freebies in the form of "free" healthcare, education, welfare, etc...i.e. one of the oldest political tricks in the book, hook the people on the State and then anyone who tries to undo it will face the wrath of the voters
I do not believe for one second that the Democratic party would be as in favor of illegal immigrants as they are if it was 90% certain those illegals would vote Republican if they were granted amnesty. This is all about political power and votes.
I concur.

I've lived with Latinas for the past seven years. IME, they and members of their families take a variety of positions on politics, society, and culture that defy the thumbnails offered above.
They do, however, understand when they're being stereotyped, profiled, and patronized, and such activities stop some of them cold when they go to the polls.
But they're probably illegals, too.
Ah, sophistry.No, it is research <<LINK (http://www.gallup.com/poll/17404/where-hispanic-americans-stand-religion-politics.aspx)>> <<LINK2 (http://www.usnews.com/opinion/blogs/peter-roff/2012/04/24/economy-not-immigration-is-key-issue-for-latinos-in-2012)>>.

Oh for crying out loud, this is the comedy section! I came here to read jokes, not learn about Hispanic political affiliations.
There, I feel better now :)
No, it is research
And, such well researched sophistry at that.
Did I tell you the one about the researcher, the Italian and the preacher - never mind...:D look where we are.
"I've lived with Latinas for the past seven years." - Sigaba
Damn, Sig-I kinda regret being so hard on you lately. Two questions.
How many years left on your stretch, and does CCWF have wifi? :D

While I am inclined to agree with you, something interesting happened in 2010:
http://www.frumforum.com/how-hispanic-voters-helped-keep-texas-red/
He reiterates what I think Sigaba is trying to say :p:
"The GOP has an opportunity in Texas that it doesn’t have in other states. While Hispanics in Texas are generally pro-Democratic, they aren’t as overwhelmingly so as elsewhere. If the Republican Party in Texas can keep its focus on bread-and-butter issues that can bring Hispanics into the GOP camp (or at least around 40% of them), they can maintain their current position as the majority party in Texas. If they fail to do so, and go for the sort of exclusionary rhetoric and policies that have alienated Latinos from the GOP elsewhere in the country, they face a demographic winter in coming election cycles."
What bugs me with this is that the "exclusionary rhetoric" is saying we should not give freebies to illegal immigrants and that we should secure the border.
The dems need the illegals.
