As a stress relief mechanism, I go to boards with lots of libs and provoke them. So there's a pic of John Kerry as an Oompa loompa posted. This guy, I think is a former English teacher, calls it "gibberish. I call him "ARFET" - Anal Retentive Former English Teacher - he's always making spelling and grammar corrections.

Me
I hardly think reference to Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory qualifies as "gibberish". This epic 1971 tale of everybody's non-pollutionary, anti-institutionary, pro-confectionery factory of fun is a classic in every sense of the word. Gene Wilder's brilliant portrayal of Mr. Wonka should have won an Oscar. Jack Albertson as Grandpa Joe is reminiscent of Clarke Gable's performance as Captain Rhett Butler in Gone with the Wind. And the young Peter Ostrum as Charlie Bucket can only be described as magnificent. However, Rudy Borgstaller and George Claydon truly stole the show as the Oompa Loompas. Sadly, their magnificent performances were uncredited - it appears Hollywood was not yet ready for Oompa Loompas. Politics aside, "Willy Wonka" as we hardcore fans refer to it, is a masterpiece. You will laugh, you will cry, you will crave the candy. Two thumbs up and a "Z" snap.

ARFET
More of that er, uh CHOCOLATE-LOOKING substance like the rest of your posts! LMMFAO!

Me
Very mature response ARFET. Worthy of your best (middle school) efforts no doubt. I was hoping more for a discussion of WW as a stinging indictment of the industrial age and it's use of the vertically challenged as sweat shop labor. Or perhaps criticism of the hereditary passage of the crown in major corporations along with Mr. Wonka's refusal to recognize Charlie Bucket as his illegitimate son, which he quite obviously was. Even a discussion of the American Dream would have been more appropriate than your sophomoric reference to fecal material. We would have also accepted discussion reference capitalism vs. communism and The People's ownership of the work place as espoused by Marx/Engels. You however, receive zero points for "doo-doo". You are a No Go at this station. Move out and draw fire.

For some reason he refuses to answer. LOL Fookin' Willy wonka and libs! I love the internet!

They're so easy to provoke. They try to come off as academics and cultured and all above the fray and what not, but then when you go willy Wonka on them, they call you a doo-doo head. LOL They get real upset about Teddy and Chappaquiddick. I've been banned more than once for that one. I'm PNG at DU.com for it.

My favorites are the military experts. I call them Herr Clausewitz and then proceed to rip their arguments to shreds. I know it sounds terrible, but the GWOT has given me literally 100s of hours of fun because the libs want to comment on the leading issues of the day. One today had a spiffy comeback, "Oh yeah, well your mother wears Army boots!" LOL. I told it my mother does indeed and could kick his ass. I'm waiting for it to respond so I can lie and tell him Moms is pushing troops at Ft. Jackson and will be waiting for him when this draft starts up.

They also try to lie about serving - very easy to KIA. Had one claim to have been a B52 in Vietnam. Said he was "trained as a CG expert and learned all about ground combat when he did some naval manuevers." LOL. Come to think of it, I haven't heard from him since then...

Inciting Libs is good fun if you don't feel like doing something difficult. It's sort of like knocking over dominos without doing the set-up yourself... just a slight push and everything drops.

Personally, I thought Willie Wonka was a statement of imperialism, enslavement and monopolist (or at least oligopolist) capitalist domination. Wonkas motives are posed as altruistic and mutually beneficial, but in reality, would he have taken in the Oompa Loompas if they didn't agree to pay sweat equity for their safety? And his rampant obsession with ensuring that Slugworth was denied market share so persistent and controlling that he's even resort to attempting to murder young children while making it look like an accident of their own doing.

Wonkas covert loyalty test was reminiscent of the former loyalty test given to Saddams bodyguards. I'm convinced that if Charlie had walked out of the door with that everlasting gob stopper, he'd have been met with a bullet in the back of the head. For his act of loyalty to his new master, Charlie was made one of the candy cartels anointed cadre of illuminati... he could have just as easily wound up as worm food. :D
